Is 7mm mag sufficent enough for big game.

no arrogance here. Just posting up some of the results of a 7mm Magnum in action from 1996 to 2002. I can bring some real world experience to the table, can you?

Haha, Ok i now see that i have been BAMBOOZLED, I got called away from my computer and just got back in. I knew i was in trouble, when i came back and there was already 6 pages. So my apologies to anyone that this thread offended.

As far as the expert marksman comment goes, Now that is funny and not likely. I just shoot my gun religously at the range and know where it shoot's and i feel comfortable and confident when shooting at animal's.

Oh and SPECIAL THANKS to "Fallguy",:kickInTheNuts: i owe you one!!! With-out him we wouldn't of had this much excitment!!!

Hi all
Ok i am new here so don't be mad if there has been several threads on this topic. In a recent introduction i mentioned i use a 7mm mag for my big game hunting moose/elk. I was asked if this was sufficient calber for big game???
So here we are. A bit of info on the way i hunt, should also be mentioned.
Years back my father in law shot an elk, but didn't get a kill shot in. He is not in the best of physical shape so you can guess who had to track this elk for about 5 miles. I still can't beleive the places these animals can go through. But one thing about me is i never give up if there is blood on the ground, it has to be found period.

One thing i did learn from this experience is that i never want to do it again.
So when i shoot big game, i follow this motto. HEAD OR NECK shot only, i won't even look at the body. If i don't have a clear head or neck shot i don't shoot. Since then i have never had to track another animal and 99% of the time they drop right where they are on impact.

So this is not a head or neck thread, but do you think a 7mm mag is sufficient enough for big game. I say it is from my experience, what do you think????
I was told by a hunting family member that headshots tend to result in bloodier tasting meat than the heart, though.

Hmmm, i have never heard this before, could be possible i guess. With a fast kill and no time tracking i usually have his throat cut with in minutes and they all seem to bleed out good. I can't say i have ever tasted bloody tasting meat. Maybe one of us should start a thread on this, haha NO never mind i won't even go there!!!

Real world as in working part time in a store and shooting a few animals, having circle jerking contests with your internet buddies to make up for being a lil guy, or doing something with my life?:D Arrogance over trivial matters like hobbies is laughable. I spose we have to feel important somewhere.

Seeing what a small man you are it makes sense why you dont like magnums. Will you please let pepper be your friend? How much longer does he have to plead? Oh, and where are the tags for those animals Toddlet?

we're still waiting for some pic MacKillan....

and now you're suggesting he's a poacher? tags? you do know in BC our tags come in a little booklette and don't have to be placed on an antler right? do you even have a PAL? a Hunter #?

I hunt with Todbartell, he is very skilled and takes his hunting seriously. you could learn a lot around here ;)
