I have a good ol SKS that I love... but it's broken... I know they are so cheap I could just go get another one, but I'm attached to this one@! Anyway, here's the deal...

It won't feed properly, half the time when you pull the trigger nothing happens, and that is scary - After inspecting the cartridge it's obvious the pin didn't even hit. It's almost as if the bolt isn't pushing up right against the cartridge. I've taken the sweet greasy lady apart, cleaned her up, and lubed her up - but still - same crap@! Can't find any broken parts! help?

Is the barrel seperated from the receiver? It might be a press fit barrel with an adapter, all around screwy modification. Post pics of the side of the receiver and barrel, it may be that they are seperating and giving a very unsafe headspace condition.

why is it greasy? maybe new ? if so then half the problems is not dismantling the bolt completely and cleaning it thoroughly .

+1 if it hasent had 10000+ rounds through it its not worn out if its newerish/not fired alot or not cleaned alot you might have cosmoline crud all in there which could be sticking the firing pin all up or your bolt might not be locking all the way preventing it from fireing

it could have something broken but ive never heard of any internal parts breaking....and even if it is parts are fairly cheap as well since theres so many of those around....

Sounds silly but is the firing pin in backwards? They can be assembled that way.Every had any trigger work done or other custom work.I'd have to look but I believe there are 4 different pins some are interchangeable and others not...............i have a detailed artical on the compatability.................Harold

take the firining pin out and examine it. Its really easy to take apart and put back together. Just use a hammer and a punch of some sort (big 3.5 inch nail with a flat head works well). Gently tap the pin out and it all comes apart.

Ill bet its gunked up and the firing pin is either stuck or broken
