Hey hows it going?
Name is Adam. Just got my PAL and just really starting to get into shooting (my "soon to be" doesn't like guns at all and hates the idea of me owning one:adult:), although I've been around small rifles my whole life. I've been looking around alot lately and with any luck will be purchasing soon enough!
This site kicks ass, and I look forward to making many good investments.
Drop me a line!

Squeeze it, dont pull it.

Welcome Adam, what part of BC are you from? Why not get a 10/22 as your first gun? And show your wife some nice fun target shooting with a .22, then when she starts to like it, get some baby killer black rifles :D

I have some bad news Adam....I guess you didnt read the fine print when you signed up, you are now legally married to CGN...So this chicks gotta go.

LOL just kidding man, welcome aboard!! My wife was the same way when I started buying guns. When you plan to buy one, take her to her fav store and buy her something of equal or greater value....then tell her you want to buy a firearm....works every time brother!!

you're not in trouble UNTIL THE RING IS ON THE FINGER and you've said "i do" - even then there's the 'oh, i've ALWAYS HAD THAT, i just didn't tell you about it- like the model railway set, or your collection of gi joes from the 60's or whatever else hobby you were into- i knew a guy that had THREE aircraft( small ones) when he got married, and she was terrified of flying- they STILL got married, and he still flies- now she often goes with- point being that if you have to 'adjust" to her, she can "adjust " to you- lucky we grew up on the prairies, and our women are used to having a shotgun stashed behind the back door- if it's a real deal breaker, then seriously re-consider

My wife was the same way.. I had to ensure her that the guns would be kept in a safe and all that crap.. that was a 1 1/2 years ago.. about 2 months ago she said she would feel safer with a shotgun in the closet of our bed room  ( triger locked of course ) Moral of the story alot of people are scared of guns and they are usualy the ones that have never touched one.. eneryone that I know and have taken shooting have loved them including the wife :D four friends are going for there PAL course now

Ps I also told the wife when I got my RPAL I would only buy 2-3 guns  whoops I gues I lied

Welcome, it great to see you're setting the grounds works for a happy wife. ;) Seriously though get her out to the range and teach safety. Best to have a friend provide the toys at the range. Get her accustom to the though before you tie it.

Like my Uncle Ed used to say, "It's all fun and games until someone gets married!"

Seriously though, once you're hitched you'll eventually want to ease her into it. Some .22 plinking would be good introduction, and depending on how that goes you can move on from there.

Believe me when I say there are many other things to fight about than guns; trust me on that one!!! :)

My GF doesn't really mind them. Doesn't love them either though. She just says I don't need any more. Apparently I have enough.

Hopefully your wife warms up to them.

My husband got me into shooting and I couldn't be happier. He started me with a .22 revolver, which seemed to me to be petite and feminine. Handguns continue to be my feminine choice and Cowboy Action is my fun. Welcome and I hope you can turn your wife over to the light.

Don't hide or lie to your fiance about wanting to own a gun. It will make things worse for you if she finds out you went behind her back. Try and be honest about the subject.....get her invovled and educate her on guns and gun safety. PEOPLE FEAR WHAT THEY DO NOT KNOW.

HaHa! Thanks guys, glad to know I'm not alone on that one! She's tollerant enough about them, as long as I store them at my brothers place wich is ok cause thats where I go to fire them anyways. If I could get her to even touch a 22 Im sure she'd get right into it, untill that day though I'll just keep walking on eggshells!
Thanks for making me feel welcome!

Haha, I'm sure he won't have any trouble buying a gun. First gun my girl ever fired was a 12 gauge. And she's tiny. Adam, my girl and I all took the course together, I think some girl on girl plinking should get Jen to come around hahaha

I'm very lucky my wife is looking forward to getting her own guns. Went target shooting at a friends place on the weekend, I thought a 243 would be good enough for my wife as not too much recoil, boy was i wrong, we tried a .44 rifle, 222, 7mm, 30-06 and a 300 win mag. She loved the 30-06!

My wife of 37 years learned early about my guns. Back in those days I had an open rack on the wall in my apt., so the were plainly in view. Now she encourages my hobby, last weekend we attended a gun show, and across the street was a gem and mineral show. I encouraged her to find a piece of jewlery, but no she truly said she no longer cared to wear it, but the next day encouraged me to go back and pick up a Swede 96 I had been looking at. She is definetly a keeper!

When I got married my wife had serious reservations about having guns in the house. I only had the basic three (22, 270, and 12 guage). Three years later she shot her first deer. Now I'm into my third gunrack and three of the guns are hers.

haha, thats awesome. My ex would have nothing of it. didn't even like the thought of police having guns................................. Needless to say, got rid of that one :)

Ha thats funny.

My wife does not understand why I am into guns...but after 10 years she just signs for my packages and rolls her eyes. She is not a huge fan of guns...but she understands that its my hobby and interest. The only rule is everything has to be stored safely, thats a no brainer. But she does like the idea of having a glock in the safe in the bedroom and she trains with that on a regular basis. That only took a bad guy trying to break into the house while I was on nighshift. Ever since then...she sees the benefit of having the "tool" available while waiting for the police.

Let her know up front that this is your interest, your hobby, and your NOT goint to change it. :D
