270 win or 270 wsm???

I have no interest in either but I have a 270 Weatherby so what would I want one of these lesser rounds for?

X2 I agree with you get the weatherby. Yes you may spend a bit more but you will have the rifle for ever, and they look good as well.
Just my 2 cents

270WSM... no contest!
The Short Mag has nothing but advantages over the standard calibre, and no disadvantages!
Shorter stiffer action in most rifles, which allows for better accuracy and a lighter rifle.
I reload for both and on average I get 150 fps faster with most loads... 200 fps with the 130 grain.
The recoil difference in rifles of equal weight is negligible and the difference in trajectory at long range is significant, especially on smaller game like coyotes and wolves.
Ammunition availability is equal and the short mags outsell the standard calibers in most areas and have for quite some time!
I'm serious.

it's great to have you back :)

I have had both a 270 win and 270 wsm and tested both on home made gelaton targets the 270 wsm has a bit of a penetration advantage at 400 yds as it does have a bit more energy behind it.some will say there is no difference that's what i was told so i tested it myself.I don't know if the difference is worth the extra cost of ammo for you though.

wsm

If you don't already have 270's, reloading dies/brass, etc. The WSM 270 for me would be an easy choice. Of the new wsm's most are just a way to sell a new caliber. (300 vs 300wsm for eg). The 270wsm is definitely an exception. There is a HUGE difference between the two.
If we hadn't already had a 270, and brass, dies, etc., there'd be a 270wsm in the cabinet.
