Russian SKS45 long thread.

Pointe-Claire and Kirkland are my favorite parts of montreal..... only places I didnt get dirty looks for speaking english and not french (downtown/east side I got dirty looks a lot)

Ya, the West Island has a strong English population.

Not to start a political thread here, but I wonder if the strange looks you are getting is the French guy thinking to himself " WTF did this guy just say" as opposed to you thinking your getting a dirty look because your English. Imagine the look on your face if someone came up to you asking you something in Russian, you surely would have a weird look on your face, but I bet you it would not be a "dirty" look, just a look of WTF is he saying lol.

I lived here 40yrs and only a few times have had any problems speaking English.

So back to the original thread.....if any of you guys hit up the Baron stores and find some nice all matching unissued Rifles, let us know....I may be tempted. :D

haha, that may have been the case, I know when I was approached by a guy from Mexico down by the Cathedral (I forget its name but its in the old section of town), I was a little thrown, but Im better at speaking spanish than quebecois, so things worked out alright.

Without looking at 4000 posts, after reading the last few where people had gotten theirs and were celebrating I called SIR where i ordered mine several months ago and was told thay still hadn't seen any yet. So where did these new SKS's come from?

Well that is the proverbial $64,000 question. From the look of things the original SIR order was coming from Bell. With that large of an order, you would have thought it would have went to them first. The first of the Bells seem to have surfaced in Southwestern Ontario in Brantford and Hamilton, then at Milarms,Frontier and others. From the looks of things the back-up SIR order is probably from IZH,but who knows for sure. None have surfaced yet that were bought from SIR. The IZH ones have been out since before Christmas with Epps getting the first of them to sell. Others from IZH have since been sold all over the West. Still to this day SIR has not shipped one Russian SKS to a Customer. Maybe we should start a pool on when the first one from SIR will arrive, and which importer it will be from?

WOOHOO the day finally arrived!!! Pics will be up tonight. Got a 1951 TULA ALL matching NO forced match! Wood is great, not a scratch on this baby! All matching! It looks unfired too... apart from the cosmo, it looks pristine!

Glad to hear that. Can't wait to see it. I'm guessing yours was hand select? Or were you one of the lucky guys that got something better from ordering shooter grade?

Cleaning the cosmo now... the stock has a few dents, typical for a milsurp it's age, I guess. There are ZERO scratches anywhere, deep, dark, rich bluing. This was unfired I believe, as the barrel only has cosmo and crown looks like it just came from the factory. Every part matches, even the stock. I'm happy!!! Thank you Frontier, this was well worth the wait!

I'm glad I paid the extra 40 bucks... this is rifle is awesome... so glad on waiting out for it!!

Right on FRY...

I guess yours gets mounted on the wall.

I gave mine a general cleaning last night, but I think waiting for it to arrive, has me wanting to tear it down again and give it a more thorough bath and some well needed TLC. Like I said, I bought mine to shoot and have fun with.

--- Hey, -- Fry, --- Good for you, like we were saying a while back, -- Some time that Long wait Pays off, --- It did for Me, And it Looks like it did for You !! Congrats on Rifle !!!! regarding the Corosive Ammo issue, ---- All I was trying to stress, is , as most know, to clean them up as soon as you can, and don,t let that stuff start doing its thing , We all know or at least should, that barrels won,t rot out the same day, and I Never said that. Just, as far as the cleaning is concerned, best to stay on top of it, if your using that ammo. Anyway, Congrats on your Rifle, would like to see some Pics, if you can ?? :)
