Anyone tried a Porat-Bote?

Neat little boats, a little bit flexable though. Can handle two guys. I towed one to shore (slowly) with a guy riding in it and it survived. I've seen them strapped to the side of RVs.
 
a budy has one and it held three "big" dudes plus all our fishin gear and beer for the day a little "wobbly" but stable otherwise

I've usd one with downriggers and a fishfinder hangin off it!:D
Fold it up and THROW it in the truck it's so light.
Kind of a PIA putting it together when it's cold though ( I got stuck in it after it closed back up!!):eek:

I used to sell them for a few years, and I think they are great! Just like any small boat in big water, you have to know your limits. But, hell do they get up and go with a small 4 or 5 hp. I still use one, great for fly in trips! Twice a year me and a group of us would try to wreck one on our trips, never happened!

And just for the record the Foldaboat was sued and went out business for copyright infringement. They where at best a cheap copy

If, I didn't move out into the country and have other interests, I would still be selling them.
 
We had a 'fold-a-boat' back in the 80's and used it a ton. The old man and I used to fish minnows commercially out of it using a 2hp kicker to push 350lbs of us and several 5gal pails of water and minnows. Heck, I've even been out in waves over a foot high.... not for the faint at heart but it didn't stop us from working. :) They were handy to strap on the floats of the plane too.
 
I've owned one for several years, once you get used to the flexing, they are a pretty handy rig. Mine is a 12ft er, it will handle me (6'4",300lbs) and another full sized guy no sweat.
