The SKS has brought in a whole generation of shooters to our sport for all of the good reasons listed so far.
And as far as I'm concerned this is a very good thing.

My wife is also a new shooter because of the SKS.

Also yes many folks I know are buying extra SKS rifles as potential parts guns.

Remember when Enfields were plenty and cheap...Now see how much we have to pay for those tiny parts once hacked off and thrown in the dustbin.

I agree with many of you guys. I only have one SKS with no plans for more (famous last words).

Every time I take newbies or non-shooters to the range, it's the SKS they talk about. I have a buddy who still talks about it literally years later. Mine is fairly accurate, loud, easy on the recoil, a semi, has a bayonet and a grenade launcher; it's a blast to shoot.

It's a great ambassador for the shooting sports.

The fact is people are interested in them right now, hopefully soon there are some other types of firearms for us to go Crazy over. Like the T-97's or DSR'$ are now, or maybe Laser gun's like in star wars & Buck rodgers!!!, OK thats a little over the top, but a really Awsome potatoe gun would be fun too, how come people don't get excited about those!!!!

My SKS fascination is for historical and "gotta have them all" reasons. My goal is to have one of all of them made (which is near impossible, but one can hope) and to rescue as many abused SKS's as possible. (I have seen some amazingly abused SKS's)

Start an SKS rescue society...like they do for dogs.

A good friend of mine has done the same for LeeEnfields. Its a good hobby.

I would agree there,I've already got a Mosin parts bin that keeps on growing.It is fun, and when the rebuild is complete, the rifle looks so much better..
