Now that I have FINALLY received my SKS, I was just wondering who has or where can I get bullets? Can I use .308 and or .311 or do I just have to stick to .310? The .310 seem hard to find in a FMJ, or even a soft point for that matter, Wholesale sports is out and Cabela's is telling me they are back ordered also.

Need a good source for bulk bullets! Any help greatly appreciated.

One place is Marstar.

ASC39A3 in stock 7.62x39mm Sellier & Bellot FMJ Ball 127grs. Steel Berdan $195.95 1,120 rounds

Hornady makes a 123gr sp bullet in .310 they also make a 150gr sp bullet in .312 For brass, some searching, S&B, WIN, IMI and I'm not sure who else.

marstar sells bullets and brass (like most things on there) its sold out for the time being....i have a fair amont of surplus left but i might start loading the 7.62x39mm for my CZ-858 just for fun and non corrosive better ammo:)....

if you find a good load post it up!!!!

I've got brass, been collecting boxer stuff at the range for years... As for recipes, well I picked up a caliber specific manual on ebay for 7 bucks. Lots of load data

Just need to find some bullet heads...

Hornady 7.62mm 123gr FMJ is the answer.

Higginsons Powders carries it. Google can provide their contact info.

24gr Win 748/Win Case/123gr SP.310 Win bullet.................Harold ***mine also shoots 150gr .308 dia well with IMR 4198 I'd have to look up that load....get Hornady dies as they come with both size expanders

I Have had good dealings with Higginsons, will have to give them a shout, although, wholesale sports tells me that the 123 FMJ is discontinued? The Hornady website only shows the 123 grain soft point.

Because I can.

I do not want the hassle of cleaning up after corrosive ammo, would rather spend my time reloading and shooting.:)

Hassle?? Hot water and a garden hose for two minutes. Then clean it like you are going to anyway. Not a lot of hassle there. I have a couple of hundred FMJ around here somewhere. I use surplus to sight in and make up hunting rounds by pulling the bullets and loading Hornady or Sierra, only takes a couple of rounds to sight in then and away I go after deer. Been doing that for years. I'll take a look, see if I can find 'em.

Would be great if you could find them, been considering buying the milsurp stuff just to get the bullet heads.

If you are into reloading, then why not consider cast lead bullets?
They are a lot cheaper and if you get the right recipe of powder, bullet weight, etc., you could do okay. Even some guys, like the SKS for deer hunting.

well i guess i should have searched first, i started a post about this yesterday and got some good responses.

i found sierra even makes a match bullet in .311, a 174 grn HPBT.

i bought (and received 3 business days later) 200 rounds of lapua brass from hirsch precision, $53.00 per 100, not far off winchester's $20.00 per 50 sticker:)

hirsch also sells 7.62x39 rcbs dies.
