Supernova vs Wingmaster?

Have owned both...I like the Supernova best...despite its meaty forstock. I sold my SuperNova as I had too many Benellis in the storage rack....now regret selling it and even asked the buyer to sell it back...no go....In the Fall I bought an 3.5" BPS in camo as my favourite store had no Supernova's in stock...but didn't get out before surgery and it remains unfired....now I will be looking for a new Supernova and selling/trading the unfired BPS, (This is not a sales pitch!)

I take it that you are speaking from indepth personal experience? The folks here could certainly benefit if you could provide specifics related to your intense dislike of the Benelli product.
 
Benelli

A question for the Benelli owners, do you find the Nova or Supernova to be too long of a gun with a 28" barrel? The specs are 49.5" long with a 28" barrel and thats a long gun. Do you think I would be best served with a 28" or 26" barrel on the Supernova?

Wow, Wingmasters prices are climbing at a rediculous rate $840.00 for a new one at most stores now!!!

Seriously, buy the WM, if you don't like it it will sell in a heartbeat.
 
Both great guns
I own wingmasters and Supernova
I like the Supernova as it points and fits me very well
the wingmasters slightly less
I am 6 foot 3 inch tall with big hands. I fet the gun.
My friend who is shorter cannot fit the Supernova and feels the fore-end is too large - he loves his wingmaster as it is trimmer and fits him

It all depends on the factors -- try and fit to see what you feel right with. A shotgun that doesnt point instantly is a poor choice.
 
nova or 870

i have had many remington shotguns over the years and never looked to see if they had a warranty.they all have held up under the worst conditions.dropped an 11/87 premier in the duck swamp once swished it back and forth in the water ,pulled the barrel off put it back together and kept on hunting.wonder why Bennelli has to warrant a pump gun????. just my experience though. Hahahahaha, I personally just watched the price of the 870 Wingmasters go from $729.99 to $834.99 in the last few days at most Canadian stores!!! I thought they were pricey at $729.99 but now they are $150 more than the Supernova which is $689.99. I have actual confirmation that the Supernova will be $689.99 when the stores get them in stock in a month or so.

I think im gonna go with a Supernova for my needs here, I waterfowl alot and need the bonus of a sling without having to drill new wood. I also handle a dog when waterfowling and I dont want him to knock over a Wingmaster and dent it up.

Im sure they are both great guns, but I think for now the $150 cheaper Supernova will best suit my needs. I am gonna try and save up for a 20 gauge Wingmaster in the future for upland and small game.

Supernova for waterfowling and Wingmaster for upland!!!

That'd be a very smart (and far sighted) move on your part :). That 20ga will adequately meet your Upland/Small Game hunting needs in almost all situations.
 
Yeah...

I just couldn't bare to trudge through the swamp and marsh with a brand new wingmaster aswell as handle a 2 year old Labrador Retreiver. I know this woulda been the norm 10-20 years ago but I am now of the mindset that a waterfowl gun should be synthetic. Thats what I am after right now is a waterfowling gun.

I also love the Wingmaster and will save my loonies to buy a new or good used one in 20 gauge for pheasent, rabbits, partridge and squirrel. I guess there is no one "do it all gun" but with these two I should be covered for any shotgun needs.
 
As far as current competitive prices go, I noted that WilliamsArms dot net (Port Perry, ON) has a Super Nova (max 4 camo) on their list. Come to think of it, there was a very recent WTS ad on the EE for a Nova as well as Super Nova (both black and new, I think).
 
I don't know I think that you would find the REMINGTON 870 SPS SUPER MAG in 3.5 inch more comparable to the Super Nova. But then, I might be biased by owning one and using 870s in the CF and law enforcement duties.

Whatever your final purchase the important thing is to be happy.

Sounds like a good idea. If you hunt alot more for waterfowl I think the Super nova is the way to go. I have been very happy with mine thus far. I find it is very comfortable ( I am taller, some shorter people find it a bit too long) but a am able to clay shooting the whole day no problem. Shoot some clays with it and if you find it is good with clays, then bonus! If not great idea with the 20GA WingM.
 
Like I said, I am trying to buy one 12 guage shotgun to do it all. I want to hunt geese, ducks, turkey, deer, pheasent, rabbit, partridge, squirrel and clays. I think if I bought an 870 3" Wingmaster 28" barrel and added a 20" smooth bore rem-choke and rifled sight barrel, I could do it. What do you think about this setup???

I dont doubt that the Supernova would be a better gun for dedicated waterfowl hunting, but try and get a turkey or slug barrel for it later on if you want something shorter. Benelli Canada (Stoeger) is an absolute nightmare to deal with and I would be much more comfortable buying a Remington here in Canada.

Well I wonder what kind of price range you are starting to get into when you talk about the base price of the Wingmaster and then another barrel on top of that?
 
Well I would want two barrels for whatever gun I got either way to hunt all of this type of game. It just makes it easier to hunt turkey and deer with a shorter 20"-24" barrel. It prolly would work out to around the same price with either gun after you figure another barrel into it.

Wingmaster= $799 + 20" Barrel = $250 Total= $1050 + Tax
Supernova= $625 + 24" Barrel= $450 Total= $1075 + Tax

Those are prices that I have called and confirmed. So with around $1000 spent I would have a gun to hunt all of the game listed above. I think for me this is a better way to go than spend $1000 on a used Beretta 391 and then god knows how much more on a turkey/deer barrel. I would be upwards of $1400-$1500 I would imagine.

I bought the Nova over the 870 after handling and firing both.
Why?
Ease of field stripping and overall quality.
Regretts... I wish i'd bought the SuperNova as this puppy kick like a SOB with turkey and goose 3.5" loads.

I'm recomending the benelli all the way!
