Looking at them they appear pretty much identical. In 55gr for a .223 would they perform pretty much the same accuracy wise and on gophers? I can't seem to find any 55gr V-Max bullets and was wanting to stick with the same brand because I have some 50gr V-Max and 55gr SPSX on the way that I will be doing some load development with as well as some 52gr HPBT. I've never used Sierra bullets before.

LOL Yamaha has an all-new V-Max, and Suzuki introduced the B-King last year

Ohhhh, reloading thread :p

Carry on

I think the 3 brands (Hornady, Sierra and Nosler) of bullets are just as explosive on gophers as the other. I have used all 3 successfully.

Obviously your rifle will determine which it likes the best, but if you are not into splitting hairs and groups in the 1/2 - 3/4" range are what you are looking for I think either would perform just as well for you.

I preferred the V-Max myself because they were more cost efficient and I could buy them in 1000pc bulk packs from a CGN member. They work very well in both my .223 and 22-250.

How much for 1000?

"...can't seem to find any 55gr V-Max bullets..." Your local shop may just be out of stock. The V-Max only comes in a .224" bullet too.
"...looking for cheap 1000 packs..." Cheap being a relative term. Your local gun shop can order them for you, if their supplier has 'em in stock. Be prepared to pay up front.

I shoot v-max in both 223 and 22 hornet and have never been disappointed. However, I almost always use a sierra matchking to find out if a rifle is worth keeping. You should get excellent accuracy either way.
