Hi guys, seeing all the work that others have done to undo Bubba's work has finally gotten me to finish mine.
This was a real learning experience, and in the end I'm pleased with the results but not thrilled due to a couple of rookie mistakes.
The buttstock ended up quite a bit darker than the rest of the wood, and when I fit the forestock to the receiver I trimmed a little too much material off while standing and now there's a slight gap instead of it sitting flush. :(
Oh well, I have a Long Branch to do in the on deck circle and now I can do better on it.

This is a 1944 FTR'd rifle, so I'm not sure what factory it came out of as the stamps have been removed for the most part. I would guess it's a British one, but can't tell.

Thank you all for the encouragement and especially Lou the Pou for specific details! I salute those of you who really do a good job at this, and I hope to get there after a couple of more tries.

Nice job!!!

We'll want to know how she shoots :)

If you're a bit like me, once you start... you can't stop... looking forward seeing the next one ;)

Didn't realize the sling was on backwards as it came that way from the guy I bought it from! lol! Guess I put my SKS one on that way too, eh?
I've only test fired it at 25 yards at TSE, but it grouped fine at that range (but what doesn't right?). It was within a half inch at 25 yards, but I can't wait to see what it'll do at 100. I'm pretty awful with peep sights I'll admit though so results will be fairly poor that way, sad to say.

The sling on your SKS is on correct. The keeper on on sling is supposed to go on the fixed swivel.

Do you have any shots of the Enfield pre-refurb?

A really good trick when using peep sights is to focus on the front sight so the rear is blurry. when you do this the hole in the sight will be blurry and you will see a tiny dot of light that is not blurry, that is the center. Hope my descriptions are good enough:p. It only works on the long range sight since the hole is smaller. The light also has to be right, outside ranges should have good enough light. I was horrible with my dads No.4 until i figured this out, Now I am better with his rifle then I am with my No.1. The rifle looks pretty sweet by the way :D

I don't actually, never thought to take any. I took the old Bubba'd stock off almost right away and put it on my parts shelf. I didn't do any work to the metal as the rifle is FTR and is in perfect shape that way, so really it looked the same as it does now, just with half a fore stock on it.

Here's a pic of the Long Branch that's next up for full wood refurb'ing. This one I just finished looked identical when I started.
I'd actually really like to do a No.1 next up, but don't have one at the moment.
