Not sure if anyone posted this earlier but here goes.....

http://cz-usa.com/products_brno.php

I looked at the BRNO Combo version some months ago...wasn't too impressed with the overall finish quality despite the BRNO stamp. Plus it seemed bulkier compared to the Baikal combo.

The single shot looks appealing though - should've offered a few more calibres.

It's nice, but $1600 for a fancy Handi-rifle?

Yeah, I agree.....roughly the cost of a Sako. The takedown is a great feature though and if those sights are the same quality as those on the Finn rifles and finish quality is there then one may well be tempted (including I) :).

Anyone know who will be carrying the EFFECT in Canada? Ted

I reckon most CZ dealers will. Those firearms have been on the CZ Int'l site since early 2008. Perhaps those will be starting to hit NA markets this year.

You may wish to check with Epps.....they had a couple of those combos I inspected last year.

London Arms told me a while ago that Effect will only be brought in on 100% prepaid special orders - maybe that has changed

They were listed originally (non-USA list) in other Euro calibers including 8x57R and 7x65R
They also have a full wood version that is quite attractive.

As usual - it appears that they are destined for the US market now and they are moving in the direction of 30-06, 308 etc.

They are wonderfully accurate and light but to compare them to a NEF is plain wrong. Compare it to the $5000 Merkel single shot, break action stalking rifle --- that rifle is very very nice , and for the $1500 I think the BRNO gets 85% of the way to that Merkel.

The Effect in 30-06 does have a bit of a snap to it but really no big deal.

Single shot, double bbl, bolt, semi, .... -- it is what you like and no one else

The scope mount for the Merkel costs more then most rifles so again, it is what you choose to shoot and like.

A .308 would be very nice indeed. If the BRNO finish quality is visible (I should think so) then this firearm will sell IMHO despite the price tag. As for the NEF comparison, even the Baikal single shot is far superior to that.
