At what time of day do you get the majority of your coyotes. Is morning or late afternoon work best for you guys.

Most action for me seems to be the last hour of daylight. At first light in the morning sometimes you can catch them on their way home to bed down but not as responsive.

I think we're into breeding season right now as we are seeing them throughout the day. They are also responding more to howls now, seems you can shake them out anytime of the day if you're at the right place.

Depends on the season, depends on Temp, depends on Hunting pressure ect...In my experience a coyote does not pattern like a deer, they roam and eat whenever.....especially winter.

I've never thought of a crow call, but it would'nt hurt to try considering my luck as of late. How does a crow call work for you.

Just from my deer hunting experience last year, the yotes were out at all hours. Mostly just before night fall. They were howling and howling just before night fall. Mind you. I only seen them late morning, 9-10am roaming around. But I can tell you one thing...there must have been at least a dozen yelling and screaming. After I heard them yellping, I just came out of my stand, as I knew there would be no deer coming out.

I was out today from 8:30 am to 2pm and saw 8! A pack of 6 in one field alone! I've never seen that many together before, it was awesome! Only bad thing was that I didn't have permission to shoot on that land so even though I had a big, furry one in my crosshairs I didn't squeeze. Went and got permission and came back, but they had left and I couldn't call them back.
I know the calling was good though, as just about every magpie for 100 miles showed up to find the "dying rabbit"! It was downright hilarious! There must have been around 40 of them squawking and flying around looking for a rabbit.

This is my first year of calling and have shot 8, with 7 of those coming in the mourning, so my I have to go with the mourning or anytime you can get out there.

shootin song dogs is addictive

ive shot piles and piles of coyotes over the last couple of years! ive shot them from sun up til sun down. low light is generaly the best time to see any animal movin round. but if your callin them.... time of day doesnt seem to matter. my rule of thumb is....... prey distress from sep til dec then i like to use howlers. early till late fall seems to be the most produstive time of year. (young dogs gangin up on their food). dont over call. simple is better. less is more. Check out randy andersons dvds. that should help.

good luck!

I just noticed that after something has an accident that it isn't very long till the crows find it. Once there are a few on the dead animal they get to fighting and calling alot and low and behold Wylie Coyote shows up . So I use the wounded rabbit call and mix in the odd crow call when they start getting wary.It usually pulls them in that extra bit which makes the shot more probable.
