Miroku O/U shotgun, Value?

I am trying to get a aprox value on a shotgun I was looking at today. It is a Miroku over under with 2 3/4 chamber and a 28" barrell in imp/modified (no choke tubes). It also has ejectors and is an older gun but like new metal. The gun appears to have a wood with blueing, no silver or fancy etchings. I would assume a "hunter grade". The condition on the gun is excellent and it feels like new because the action is so tight. It is obvious the gun has hardly been shot like the owner says.

The bad is that the heal ot bottom of the stock has a large chip out of it as well as the buttplate , probably about 3/8 clean triangular chunk missing.

I have no idea as to the model number and I know the info is vague but just seeing if someone has an opinion. The owner says he has an appraisal for $1500 in its present condition.

What would this be worth?

Miroku made/make all Charles Daley $Browning shotguns made in Japan & they are excellent guns-- They are the same guns but do not command the prices that the B guns do. A fixed choke Browning Citori in excellent might command $800 t0 $1,000 to the right person, with $900 being more average. A Miroku in excellent condition should fetch around $600 t0 $700.

I have to agree with John on the value of the Miroku sounds like the gun may be from late 60's early 70's well made guns. Well John maybe a 28ga to go with the 16ga.

There are a couple of these 'in excellent condition' making the rounds of the notice boards at a couple of gun clubs I belong to. They are ranged 700-800 asking price. I don't think they are as old as the one you are dealing with as at least one has removable chokes. No mention of any significant damage either.

The owner says he has an appraisal for $1500 in its present condition.

He should get the appraiser to buy it then.

I passed on the gun at $800. I will say it was like new except, and a big except for the stock chip/chunk. I think if someone was looking for a shooter and not concerned with stock devalue it would make a great gun. It was offered in a "package" deal that I was shown.

Thanks for the advise and the comments. I feel that $600 to $900 would be the range of these depending on demand and condition.
