Has anybody bought the scope mount for No.4's from MARSTAR?? It says no gunsmithing needed, I'm wondering how stable they are...Any opinions??

First choice: S&K scope mount. You can order direct from their site.

Second, I'd probably pick ATI. I had one that required a bit of fiddling (and probably Loc-Tite would have helped).

I also suggest to go with a no-gunsmith if your Lee Infield is relatively intact metal-wise (not already drilled and tapped, and the full-length barrel).

Thanks Lou,

My LE doesnt have anything drilled and tapped yet, thats why I wanted a no gunsmith mount. It has the original length barrel, matching numbers, but sporterized. Eventually I want to bring her back to original, but its gonna knock down a few deer first.

I have 3 different No4/5 no D/T mounts and found the B-Square the better ( when properly fitted) .
Mk2 , Mk3 and Mk4 rearsight battlepeep can still be used with the B-Square and the bolt can still be removed for cleaning.

S&K is a very close 2nd choice but the rearsight has to be removed. It uses a wedge that fits inside the charger bridge good and tight.

I've had no probs with the ATI , it's more of a confidence thing with those 2 little allen screws that hold the front of the mount secure .

They all sit about the same height over the receiver.

The S&K is the way to go,it's rock solid and easy to install.Pm me your email and I will forward a pic of how it looks on my No5 which is the same action as you probably know as the No4,John

I just picked up a used b square mount. I didn't come with rings. what size rings do I need. Are they 30mm? I plan to use a 3x9x40 scope with a 1 inch tube.

Non-gunsmithing mounts for Enfields are available from all these companies.

ATI
B Square
S&K
Cad Technik
Armalon

Personally I'd like to try a Cad Technik, I like how it mounts to the safety screw instead of the rear sight. Anyone try one before?

IMHO, the ATI is an overpriced POS.

Timberlord, does the B-Square mount with the rear sight or did you customize it? Is it see through?

I have two Cad Techniks and have used them on two No.4s and one No.5. I've heard people complain that they don't hold zero but mine work for me. Another complaint is that they mount the scope quite high but a replica No.4T cheekpiece solved that on one rifle and on the others a Beartooth comb-raising kit did just as well. For me, being able to keep the iron sights on and available is worth it.

Thanks for the info, and yeah I agree about keeping the rear sight in place. :D

I did buy a Cad Technic mount a couple of years ago. It was okay but once you've owned a rifle or two with the T repro and real mounts and seen the quality of that mounting setup, the way the Cad Technic mounts on tiny screws and the plastic washers etc involved...I wasn't that thrilled with it.
However, I do like the way you could undo two screws and remove the scope and your irons were still there.

The S&K or the B Square would probably be higher picks.

I'd also think seriously about Gairlochian's mount. Bead blasted and blued...and Canadian made.

I've used most of them and the S&K and Armalon are the only ones worth using unless you do the whole repro #4T mount thing. Of the S&K and the Armalon the Armalon is the better, it is a peace of art next to the others. You can order directly from Armalon in the the UK, they sell the repro #4T stock raiser to.
