Hi all,

First post on this forum, so excuse me if this has been covered already (although I did search and came up with nothing). I'm wondering about the status of the FN FS2000 in Canada...it's a very similar rifle to the Tavor TC-21, which seems to be readily available, but I can't find a single shop listing the FN online.

Am I just inept, or is there some reason why these carbines can't be sold here? I can't find anything about the specs that would make them even restricted let alone prohibited.

The rifle is legal, the US Government won't allow it's export to Canada because the UN now dictates their export policies on small arms. It's called ITAR. There are a few examples in the country that were brought in during a period of ....confusion as to what was or wasn't allowed to leave the US. Since then you're SOL. The good news is that if any of the ones in Canada do come up for sale, they'll probably be on the EE right here. All of the owners that I'm aware of are members here. Bring great heaping buckets of cash, though.

If you're into bullpup rifles released in the past few years, you can legally buy an Israeli Tavor which is not restricted, and since the Israelis have less use for the UN than even I do, they are importable into Canada. Check Canada Ammo at the top of the page.

I thought that in order to sell a new firearm in the states that it had to be made in the states or it's harder than H E double L to get importated. Maybe I am smoking to much :onCrack:? Any one out there can confirm or deny this?

Anything considered "Non-sporting" can be difficult to import. The american importers have a few ways around this. The US AG (iirc) determines if something is "sporting" or not. Might be wrong, but I think this is due to 1989 AW Import ban signed by Bush Sr.

I don't know if something has changed, but FN USA had been telling people the FS2000 was 100% made in Belgium and assembled in USA, leading many to wonder how they got around the import ban..
 
MD Charleton is the importer / dist. for FN Herstal, not FN Sport / R Nicholls.
Currently their contract is only for Police / Military items / sales. They have no plans to change, or even look into changing this with FN Herstal in Beligum.
Why I don't know. I think they could make money if they did.

I can see why they wouldn't want to. More hassle, more time involvement, more griping, less money.

Besides, they're not complete jerks. They're offering the HK MR223 to civilians and they don't have to.

Put me on the PS90 list!:dancingbanana: . . . Would it be possible to import one through a private sale from someone in NZ? There has to be other countries we can export these two firearms from? Questar any help? Or are we just wasting our time on this on?

I held a fs2000, didnt like it. ps90 is nice and tight. I rather have it restricted so I can have the nice tiny barrel so it looks normal, instead of the typical canadian deformity.
