Make my Norinco HP9 14" Tacticool!

Hi all,

Shotgun newb here. I just bought a Norinco HP9 14" from Marstar. I've already ordered a Shotforce AR15-style stock from Brownells.

What else should I get for my Nork?

I think I need:

- Sights (must replace the bead)
- Light

Any make/model that will fit the HP9 without breaking the bank? Any help is appreciated.
 
First off, what are you using it for? If you intend to defend your home and family with it, the light is a plus, the plus one extension doesn't hurt and neither does a sidesaddle. The stock I feel is highly over-rated but not problem. If you're hunting large game, the light is of little use and quite possibly a legal issue(spot-lighting). The rest is still usable. If you're looking to impress at the range, spent some money and get some professional training or atleast invest in a lot of ammo.

You can't shoot what you can't see or identify. Red dots are a waste of time on a shotgun. A solid sling, some night sights(either bead or ghost ring) and a light are all that is required. As far as which light. The best one you can afford. Stick with LED.

+1. Sling, ghost ring sights, light and a mag extension is the perfect 14" IMHO. Can't stand the look of those AR stocks.
 
In General I'm with Sodium Hydroxide but.....


+ Mag extension
+ 4-6 shot sidesaddle (but only if Mesa)
+ Ghost rings, Trijicon/XS
+ Mag follower (Stainless or BBB's Delrin)
+ Recoil reducing stock (Enidine is ony choice I think if you're going M4 Stock) Otherwise Knoxx as well.

- Surefire forend. Too expensive for something that paints you as a target.
- Anything Tacstar
- Good Sling (but leave it off for HD. Put it on for outside carry.)
- No rails (except for s**ts and giggles.)
- No red dot. (except for ####s and giggles.)

The only advantage of the Ar stock is the adjustable length of pull. Then again, a hacksaw can do the same to a factory wood or synthetic. Before you start crying, your shotgun is just a tool get over it.

AR stock adaptors do not work on Mossberg 500/590 series as the ambi safety is no longer accessible. The AR stock will break when attempting to combat clear a stoppage.

Recoil reducing stocks are for those who don't know how to shoot their shotguns or are too soft to accept that recoil is a part of the shooting process.

As a home defense firearm, boring isn't a consideration. Reliability is the first priority. Simplicity is the second. Everything else is gravy.

A light is a must. The myth that lights provide a target is founded by those who have no training with lights or are too slow to engage the identified threat before being engaged. Most home invasions are scumbags looking for valuables, not serial killers. Being illuminated only proves there is someone with a light present. You can't shoot what you can't see.
