Lee Hand Primer

If you're talking about the Lee Auto-Prime, you can use it foor small or large rifle primers. There are two trays, one for small rifle, the other large rifle.

I use mine for small rifle primers and it works great.

Guys,

I do have the second black pan with ram pin and spring for small primers....

But, the Lee Modern Reloading Manual states that this is only to be used for Small "Pistol" Primers. It doesn't specify that small "rifle" primers are safe.

Are they for sure???

i've got 2- 1 for each small and large- i think the pistol primers thing is a MISPRINT- if you know about the construction of primers, you know that the cup is SLIGHTLY thicker on rifle primers , but the SIZE is the same as the pistol, be it large or small- therefore it takes a STRONGER FIRING PIN STRIKE to detonate a rifle primer, but the seating pressure is the same

I own 3 sets, they work great for small/large primers.
Pistol or rifle priming is never an issue.
Being using them for over 20 years now.
Iv'e being reloading for over 30 years.

The cams tend to wear out so I myself have a backup. If you do a lot of switching between Large and Small primers it would pay to 2 set up, one for Large and one for Small to save the bother of switching trays.

Hey Onagoth, my 2 Kids are always helping me out when i'm reloading 2-3 thousand rounds at a time. I always like having spares, besides my kids know more about reloading ammo than most kids their age, they are 14 & 10 .
