Im looking for some opinions of LEE dies. I have a Lee seating die for .243 win that refuses to seat a bullet straight in the case. By not straight i mean .004 to .007 thou. Although I have not checked to be certain, I suspect that the main cartridge cylinder was not machined concentric to the upper internal threaded portion of the die.

Im just wondering who makes the best seating quality seater dies so i may retire the lee from the reloading line.

thanks

Lee will replace defective equipment. If you get this die checked out and it is machined correctly, what will you do? Will we ever hear about it again?

My Lee dies and equipment work great especially when you follow the instructions.
Lee customer service is also excellent and I had a broken press part replaced for the cost of shipping only and had the part in a week shipped from the States. It was also a part for a press they no longer Make A**Lee Customer Service 262-673-3075 Voice

Hmmm.. strange. Thanks everybody for the input. I actaully just checked the concentricity and sure enough the internal thread at the top of the die is .012 thou off center to the main body. I will contact Lee.

An RCBS shell holder for a 30-06 is a number 3 a Lee shell holder is a number 2
if you use the Lee #2 in an RCBS it screws up and visa veersa
the actual die though works the same

Sorry, but you are mistaken about this. LEE and RCBS shellholders are numbered differently, but are certainly interechangeable from press to press.

Not quite sure what you mean byt his gunstuff.

I wasn't following that either. I was thinking maybe someone needs more fiber in their diet.

I have both RCBS and Lee and I tend to like the RCBS more as I am more familar with them. I can't say that is based on quality or end results. More of a personal thing.

hey corney, i appreciate the input. I didnt mean to start an argument above but clearly fiber is the answer here. :)

Im gunna give Lee a call and see what they say. I may go with an rcbs as i am pleased with the one i have for 30.06
