M&P 40 Holster

I have recently bought a Smith & Wesson M&P 40.

I am interested in getting into defensive pistol shooting.

I wonder if anyone could give me suggestions for a good holster for this sport?

I would prefer leather over plastic but I will use plastic if I have to.

Blackhawk serpa - not sure if it qualifies for IDPA though

Ditto on the Blackhawk Serpa. I have one, and it's great. The carbon finish is a nice touch.

I've tried those, try Raven Concealment Systems - far more comfortable and secure than ANY holster I've tried. Leather holsters are over rated, a good Kydex holster is more comfortable, more stable, and doesn't have any of leather's 'issues'
