Hi, after some research I think I don't have the right bolt on my rifle, it is possible ? (Cocking piece round not flat)
And I can't find the manufacturer, it is for a future restoration and I would like to buy the right parts.
Maybe I can put some chalk or paint in the engraving to be clearer for other pictures, I can read;

I think you Have a Surplus rifle that was sporterized for commercial sale, probably by BSA. They are on the higher spectrum of the Sportered Enfields since they were commercially done.
 
"Surrey" was applied to rifles sported by Parker Hale, IIRC. The Mk. I cocking piece may or may not be original to the rifle. Is the bolt original? The cocking piece might have been on a replacement bolt. Usually early rifles had the Mk. I cocking pieces, although whatever was in the bin could have been used. The Mk. I sight is a replacement. The safety assembly is missing a piece - the part that cams in to lock the bolt closed when the safety is applied. Most of the proof marks are commercial ones, applied after the rifle was sold off and sported.

Yes I think to buy one, but I don't want to buy 2-3-4-5 books to take all informations for this rifle, Skennereton is THE best ? (.303 RIFLE No. 4. item sais#2)
 
Buy woods, buy a bolt... I think to keep this on like this and look for a other one more original.
Just for fun, I WILL NEVER SELL THIS RIFLE, How much she is worth ? sporterized like this is not rare, a ask because I received a couple of PM.
 
Maltby. Most of the Surrey's I've seen were tapped for PH scope mounts on the barrel ring: A20 to be precise, same as the ENFORCER etc. Have a bunch sitting on the desk in front of me. [Correction: "Sussex" were tapped for PH mounts]

The cocking piece probably has the Savage "square S" mark on the side if you draw it back. That style of safety was unique to Maltby too for some reason.

RRCo. I do not see anyting which looks like one squared S, but the serial number was grinded, maybe the square S was grinded with the s.n. ??

It is baaaaaad cel pictures... I think this weekend I am going to strip all the rifle and with my camera, take good pictures of all punch marks.

When you get that safety part, it has to be timed. It takes a bit of playing, but it has to be timed right. Check it carefully for function before loading the rifle.
 
Let me know where to send it, and the part will be in the mail. Same price as Vimy Ridge. As Cantom mentionned, you will have to experiment a bit to install the piece on the safety shaft. It can be assembled in different orientations, only one works.

But I has to mention, the safty work, when the lever is backward, I can't fire, I can pull the trigger but the firing pin do not move.
(sorry if I don't understand all, I am not perfectly bilingual...)
