Old lady decided that she wanted a new gopher rifle so she now owns a Savage 12 FVSS in .223 Rem it will be getting a thumbhole stock shortly. Now the store was desperately out of anything .223 related but I got this for now.

100 Rem Brass (will have to do)
1lb of H335
100 WSR primers
100 40gr Sierra blitz kings all they had for bullets.

Anybody have a magic load for that combo of bullet weight and powder. I see that the powder is popular for the .223. Or any info from the sierra load book I have nosler and hornady but not sierra. Thanks.

Did you check hodgdon site. As you probably know, every gun is different so someone elses load may or may not work well in yours.

You can choose to see loads by bullet weight, bullet brand or powder.

I know there is a chance it won't work well in my rifle I was just curious. Sometimes there are those magical loads. Like my fathers .270 Load it shoots and inch or less for 3 shots in 7 of the familys different .270's. I will probably just start at the min load for the 40gr v-max in my hornady load book and work up. Thanks for the link

Sierras given hunting load for that bullet is:
40gr Blitzking, 29.1gr H335 COAL: 2.175", claimed to give 3700fps

haven't used this one, but I tired their recommended load for 52gr SMKs (which also uses H335), and it works great in my Savage 10FP
