Nice 'yote. I'm hoping to get out for a few of those guys this winter. LOTS of them hanging around where my in-law's live.

Martin, a yote is the only reason I would disturb my deer hunt... You just saved many fawns for next year!!!

Good on ya!!!

Cheers

That is so true , even here on the Island they are starting to become a problems they are taking the new born calf moose and causing all kinds of mischef with everything they get involved with.

After my cousin got his moose the gutted it and dragged it out and then went back in and staked out the gut pile for a couple hours and nailed 4 'yotes between 80 and 96LBS and missed 3 others

How to double you hunting fun!!!

TMaC, you wouldn't believe how big the eastern coyote is compared to what is out west!!! They are starting to look like friggen wolves!!! Remember, it takes only 4 generations of dog to express a desired characteristic!!! So, with no wolves out EAST, the yote is getting bigger and bigger to fill the role...

Cheers

East Tmac, sorry for the confusion...

I have a pic of one my buddy shot 2 or 3 years ago, I will look for it and scan it...

Crashman;

I don't know what the weight of the yotes are here out east, but they are bigger than my English Pointer and she is 72 lbs!!! I will have a hard look for that coyote pic, it was a male and pretty much took up the back of the truck tailgate!!!

Cheers

Hey guys and gals, i'm in nova scotia going on my first coyote hunt in the winter of 09. I've heard they are big too from people at work and i've heard them late at night, howling.

Plan on using my Norinco M14 for my first time hunt... should be kick ass !!! If i can get one to close enough without giving myself away that is.:sniper:

I'm from NS as well and I've seen some fairly large ones in the Kejimikujik Park area. Driving along the park roads you'll often see several in an evening, some as big as my Golden Retriever (nearly 80lbs.) so I wouldn't doubt that they could get bigger.

What would a person do with a dead coyote? I'm assuming that it's pest control rather than for meat/fur purposes.

having never seen an eastern coyote myself (and might be making an ass of myself), it is good to keep in mind that they look twice the size when they are in their winter coat.
