Have just dropped mine at my gunsmith's to have it shortened to 26'' he will take about 3'' more or less ''OFF'' the butt stock.

Once the stock gets a couple of inches shorter than factory length, you will start hitting yourself on the nose with your thumb(believe me, I know)
If you can"t use the stock the way it was meant, then it"s useless and you"d be better with a pistol grip. Since a pistol grip would make it prohib, then my choice would be a full length stock,or like my mossberg, 18 1/2 barrel and a pistol grip making it legal,handy and nasty to shoot.
Life is all about compromises.

cant remember exact numbers but i think my scatter gun is as short as legal with a 14.5" barrel but like i said i am not positive.
