Type 97 "see-through" scope mount( NOW DONE! NEW PICS POST 37)

How do you install it?

It requires no alteration to your firearm. It installs with a series of set crews. The five set screws on top work to secure the mount to the T97 base. The front screw on the top butts up against the recoil lug on the T97 rail so it won't move forward during recoil. The longitudinal set screw at the bottom of the base helps to secure the mount from rearward blows. All set screws have a cup base and are designed to dig into the metal of the T97 very slightly, also helping to secure the mount. The result is a rock solid mount that should be very resistant to knocks and bumps.

P.S. All the mounts are now sold pending funds! I am overwhelmed by the response and will be calling the CNC shop tomorrow for another order.

Harbl - I've sent you a PM.

I've just ordered another 50 mounts. I hope to have them in a few weeks. Now that the CNC program is written and the bugs worked out of the manufacturing process it shouldn't take too long to get a batch made up. I'm making a list of names for those who would like to get in on the next order. Please PM me if interested. Thanks to all those who got in on the first batch and I apologize to those who missed out. I've been a bit overwhelmed by the response.

Good job Clobbersaurus. Sometimes it is not easy getting these things figured out. Design-wise I mean. I have been a mechanical designer for 30 years and every project presents different problems. I was told when I first started my career the acronym, KISS
(Kepp it simple stupid) You have a very saleable product there. I can help you out in the furure if you wish as I am retired now but I have my own CADD system. I am currently working on a new reactive target.

I am afraid to order anything for the Type 97A as it looks like we wont get them. I did order a reflex scope and I got that but I can mount that on my other rifles. Having said that. Thanks clobber for your efforts. I am sure it will be appreciated by those lucky buggers who actually have T97's.

Took me a while to find this thread...man what a friggen c@ck-up the T97 issue turned into. Anyone have any ideas what to do with 50 rails that nobody has a rifle for?

Make your own T97s:
complete strip the recievers and mill new recievers with all the spaces filled in so no one can drop in any forbiddon parts. Finally, reassemble parts onto newly milled recievers. Didn't someone on this website make some ar-10s from a block of metal?

anyways... total zombie posting!!!

Don't give up yet, there may still be a market for them once all the dust settles. We haven't lost yet.
