I have been looking around for a plain old safety for a 1911. I know most people these days are pushing the gimmicks and merits of extended, oversized, ambidexterous safeties. But not me.

I dont want an extended one, or one with an oversized pad. Or even one for the eventuality where I might have the gun on safe in my left hand and need to take it off of safe.

I just want a plain one. In black. Not Chromed, nickel, anodized pink, or olive drab. ust plain old black.

Anybody know who makes such a creature? Or do I have to buy a Norinco to get an original style one.

Brownells doesnt even list one!

Thanks!

There are probably a few collecting dust in parts bins....try a wanted ad in the E.E.
Marstar does list parts, but I'm not sure if they have them or not.

If that doesn't pan out, Brownells does list a standard thumb safety, look under the manufacturer name Double Star
Last time I checked they were on the export list for shipping to Canada.

If you want to order from brownells in the states, this you must know, anything over 100 dollars you need an export /inport permit. anything under 100 dollars you need to get what i call a permission from from out government, fill it out and send it back to our government, when its approved, they can send it back to you to go with your order, or can send it straight to the company your dealing with. helps if you have a friend with a inport, export licence,

I think you should get in contact with Gun Parts Corp in America. They will have what you need. They are on the 'net.........

You must have a spesific reason for wanting one, because my 1917 colt has one of those little (almost worthless safetys)and the slide stop is extra small also!
To each his own but I want an extended slide stop and safety! And on a ser's 80 Gov Model with a Ed wilson beavertail!

My personal preference is the style of safety on the Nork Govt Model copies, which is bigger than the numb on a vintage WWI 1911 but smaller and more rounded than some of the monstrosities out there
