Sorry if it has already been posted but after reading through a lot of the Outlaw threads I would want something a bit better constructed since I don't want to be doing any tinkering on something that explodes while I am holding onto it.

I love the look of the outlaw, its toatl Mad Max and If there is nothing better I will settle for it.

Thanks.

Hmm... well i got the ok to make my own shorty shotgun from the rcmp. Provided that is i make it, and have not illegally modified a pre-existing shotgun. Also must be manually-operated to comply with short barrel conditions.

If you got the time, and tools, then why not ;). Copy the outlaw look, or make something tacti-cool lol.

To answer your original question, i currently do not know of any short sxs shotgun other than the outlaw. If you don't mind a little jail time, you could always saw off your own shotgun ...

Excellent first post . This should be made a "sticky".

I love my outlaw, it's inexpensive, non-restricted, and fun to shoot. what "tinkering" would you want to do with the outlaw, other than trim a couple inchs from the stock maybe?

In one of the other threads someone was talking about loose parts and screws put in incorrectly. It looks like a #####in' gun and I am sure its fine for what I want it for, I was just wondering what other options I had in similar styles of shotgun.

I've been into to guns for a while now, and this is the first non-restricted 12" SXS I've seen. If there is another one like this, I'd be surprised. Mind you, I'm no expert.

So bad ass they're either restricted or prohibs no doubt. But they do exist in Canada I guess.

The paranoia over "sawed-off" shotguns is a US phenomenon primarily designed to create jobs for the BATFE. There's a whole history behind this attitude which I won't go into.

The ones I saw for sale in gunnutz were restricted. Why wouldn't they be- all they are is a handgun with barrel over 105mm. "badassness" is not a CFC criterion;) (PTL)

the russian gun company toz makes a 20 guage bolt action shotgun with a 12 inch barrel . the late dave thomlinson wrote of short shotguns being available and that someone should be importing them .a spanish company made a gun like the auto burglar in the sixties but i have never seen one in canada. i have seen them advertised in the us . a class three gun .you have to have a permit to own one .

So what you're saying is that you can cut your barrel short, and your stock off, and they only consider that restricted? I thought that makes it a prohib. I'm no expert, so just correct me if I'm wrong.

That isn't what he was saying. They were manufactured that way, and classified as restricted "handguns".
If you cut your own barrel and stock that short you certainly create a prohib. Don't do it.

For the original poster, there are other relatively short double barreled shotguns available, but no others with a 12" barrel. Baikal makes a nice quality sxs with a 20" barrel.

I want this gun so bad but it seems everyday someone makes a new post about a problem with their Outlaw. Hopefully they will get their QC in order by summer.

I was interested in an outlaw but decided to go with a Stoeger SxS. The barrels are longer (20" barrels)but it's got few more practical uses, especialy with choked barrels. It's also a little higher quality, and it still looks pretty tuff I think. I have nothing against the chineese guns(own some that are great), but I decided to go with something a little more usefull, as I've had all the looks cool guns/modifications and ended up getting rid of them for more practical and well built things.

The outlaw seems to me like a project gun, for 300 bucks you get something you cant easily get anywhere else, and with a little tinkering it would be a nice toy. You get what you pay for, thats not to say a gun is junk because it's cheap, it's just not going to be as refined.
