I like the model of bipod on your PTRS. Mine had a non-spring-loaded earlier version with a clumsy clip to hold it in the closed position...

Try bigskysurplus.com for components (not able to ship out of the USA of course)

Also, there are maybe some reloaders and reloading information on subguns.com

I hope this helps!!

Basically, you need brass, projectiles, and dies. The dies are $500 from CH4D. They are 2" dies, so you will also need a custom press to mount them. All brass is berdan and you need to have it converted to .50 BMG. Projectiles are available as 14.5mm soft points, 1000 or 1200 grains each from a vendor in Canada. I forget the name, but someone here will know it.

It's a lot of work. I'm still working on brass, personally - though mine is a PTRD, not a PTRS - if that matters?

Thanks Claven,

Assuming I can size and prime the STEEL cases I have (rrrr)

Assuming I succesfully turn my own projectiles on Mr. lathe....

What powder?....how much?....

It would be uber nice to get the gun to function (auto load) but Im not expecting that on the first run

any advice on sizing steel cases??

My plan is to turn my own sizer on the lathe...heat treat it...and use a hydaulic press for the forming operation

What think, ye all?

Sadly, with steel cases- you are dead in the water, my friend. Re-sizing the bras cases is almost enough to wreck the best of hand presses. Steel would be murder.

With steel, the hydralic press would probably be the only option.

If you're turning projos, make dang sure they're right! Too big would be, well, rather interesting, with respect to the pressure curve.

that is a Russian PTRS 14.5mm antitank rifle...we use it to kill people and break things

ammo is unobtanium....therefore....lets make some!!

Klunk you're a real dawg for having a PTRS. They were more expensive to make than the PTRD so the Russians made less.

My favourite shooting hobby is rapid firing bolt actions.
I would be very excited to see you attempt something like this on video and show us what it would look like...I can hardly imagine!
