Damn I am in love with this, has anyone seen one up for sale here in Canada?
Little on the pricey side but damn, it would look nice next to CG63/CG80 and later to S&L M52 or M69.

I'd love to see a list of what was done tot he rifle in the accuracy improvement department. Lots of cheap Nagants out there, if they could be accurized, they would make for a cheap half-decent "precision rifle" available to just about anyone.

Nice rifle but...

And of course it would be twice that once imported...yah know the drill.

I've heard there are other FFL holders who will import to Canada, you don't have to get dinged so hard...

Even then, $1000 is a LOT for any mosin.

These Finnish rifles were made for marksmanship training and competitive full bore biathlon competitions, which were very popular with many European armies in the 1960's and '70's.

They were produced in small quantities, not in the tens of thousands. So they are rare. They were made to exacting standards, and with the correct load can shoot under 1" at 100m. Mine will group that with surplus Czech ammo. They were not model 28's slapped into a new stock. They were accurized and glass bedded.

Here is my 28-76:

I also have one of the few 27-66 rifles that were scoped for trials to replace the M39-43 and -44 rifles for the Finnish Army:

It has a heavy match grade barrel and adjustable trigger group as used in the TKIV-85 sniper rifle.

This is my equivalent set up for range use:

Only a handful of these rifles were imported into Canada directly from Finnish military assets. The importer was the Collectors Source in Acton, ON. I believe the rules of this forum prevent me from posting their website, so just google it and go to their rifle page, scroll down to Finnish Model 28-76 Target Rifle. PM me if you have any questions.

Uhmm, most of them are still wearing original barrels from & before ww2. How much "accurizing" could they possibly have done? The m28/30 was a work of art when new.

I've handled a few, and seen the photo posts on Gunboards about the 28-76 models being sold in the US. Like mine, most have been re-barreled by ASEV 1 in the 1970's with brand new barrels. Some did retain their original barrels if they met accuracy standards.

The actions are glass bedded in their stocks. The trigger, trigger spring (sear) and hammer have been reworked to provide match quality trigger pull. The bolt operation is wonderfully smooth. Combined with the diopter sights, a highly accurate rifle.
