The big stuff....LINKS?

So... would this be the original .50 cal long range hunting rifle? Who'll be the first to drop an Elk or Moose at 700 yrds? I ain't fooling either, people do hunt with .50's so why not with one of these? Any that's so damn cool and I am jealous. :D
 
no no no....its nothing like .50 bmg

14.5x114 is twice the power/fpe of a fifty

the cartridges dont even compare to each other...14.5 is a manly gun

Are you sure it was a PTRS? (the semi auto gun designed by Simonov)
$1600 would be about right for a single shot PTRD (Degtarov), but the S would be more like $2500 or more.
 
$1600 won't even buy you a PTRD anymore. I just bought one after months of looking for $1850 plus shipping! Ouch, but there you have it ;)
 
Beauty! Home defence rifle? What if you're cornered by a grizzly bear and he hides behind a dump truck? You'd be prepared! Please post footage of you shooting that delicate flower once you get things figured.:)

I thought that guy was trying to get $4500 for the PTRS...???....maybe it will be there this show

and...if yas need to know...I coughed up $2Gs for this rifle...shipping and insurance included (maybe $1900 for the gun??)

It's amazing how photos don't do these things justice. Show a M44 next to it for comparisson or something, will ya? :) the bolt to my PTRD is almost as big around as by wrist!
 
I agree....If we can't get the ammo for what we want to shoot, let's make it. I remember reading that Canada was once an ambitious nation, say in the 40's and 50's.....maybe even in the 60's....

Good for you Klunk! Get some lead down range.

Would it be possible to make brass cases for that monster?

Some guys just want everything big!

Seriously though guys, the pics are REALLY deceiving. That gun is about 8 feet long or so and the barrel is bigger around than a toonie at its narrowest point. I never realized how massive these guns were until I got one.
