Could anybody please tell me how much should a blued Colt Delta Elite in good to good + condition be selling for?

Thanks.

Top of my head says $900 $1,000.

Not very common.

That would be for excellent condition.

Good + condition.... well, maybe $550-$650'ish. Depending on what's wrong with it [condition-wise].

Thanks guys, $650 is what they're asking! I wasn't able to really check it out good, since the darn gun had been shot and not cleaned; it had carbon deposits everywhere. I am always suspicious of people selling a gun in a state that prevents you from performing a thorough check up. Hopefully I can go see them again and have another look at the gun, once it is cleaned.

What should I be looking for in the way of wear and tear? Do I just take a close look at the slide release area, or should I look for other stuff? It looked fairly tight to me, not match tight, but tighter than my P14/45. Barrel bushing was tight, and so was the barrel when in battery. I tried looking into the chamber, but it was dirty. Ejector/extractor looked ok and not too much external wear. The trigger, believe it or not, wasn't quite as nice as the Norinco Police model I checked the same day, and at least in my hands, neither were the grips.

The Delta Elites were fairly well known for cracking frames. The 10mm round is too hot for most 1911s, certainly the Colts of that time, which is why they had such a short production run.
Clean it REAL well before buying it, you could be inheriting a headache with no cure.

Cracked frame happen with the first batch of Delta Elite, they opened the slide stop hole in the frame, and the frame was Ok after that. They are good gun,but , myself ,I tend to look after other manufacturer, since they do better 1911 then Colt since the last 20 years.

Colt has make a big cut in his production for civilians during the Clinton era and all the lawsuits that the industry has to suffer for a while at the end of the 90's. A lot of there guns were removed from production,to avoid these lawsuits, like Anaconda, Python, King Cobra, Delta Elite, etc..

Lawsuits?

For what kinds of reasons for the Anaconda, King Cobra and Python?

I may be wrong but Colt stopped production of all DA's due to high production costs. Fewer people bought them due to cheaper "copies". The last Python was made in 2005. They now concentrate on the SAA,s Government models and new agent. :)
