picked up two Winchester 9mm casings from the brass bin at the range yesterday. These things are shiny clean!
What kind of powder are they using? I definitely want some!

the ammo is called winclean. the powder is proprietary. You can't buy it.

Also the primers are part of the reason the cases are clean. And no you can't buy them either.

dang, for a minute I could envision myself shooting clean guns...:bump:
Guess I have to keep my tumbler.
Until someone starts selling real smokeless powder.

I have a load that come very close to that clean,

CCI lead free primers, clays powder and a 124gr CMJ bullet in a 9mm case.

Still amazes me that with the current health awareness, that the Surgeon General or someone hasn't forced Winchester, Federal, etc to release lead free primers to reloaders..

Lead free primers suck in the reliability department. When the cops train with them on our range they always leave lots of duds on the ground.

Careful what you wish for.

I doubt that they will be "released" because of health concerns. They will be forced on us and all other options BANNED. If they start banning primers for lead content it won't be long before bullets are banned for lead content too. Or reloading will be banned altogether as a subversive activity. Then we are really going to be screwed.
