Walther P22

Sorry I must have misunderstood you. I thought you took your compensator off and got your barrel chopped to the legal limit.

I was thinking of doing something like this for the wife, and the overall appeal of the pistol.

Taking the comp off, chopping the barrel to the legal limit, getting the rest threaded for added looks.

I'll stick to Reliable or Italian, they know me well. Barry doesn't.

My P22s are at Bits of Pieces right now for barrel shortening. Should be 65 to 70 for each one.

Have you even operated a Mark 1,2,3 pistol? The man who talks up a POS like a P22 is saying the same thing about a Mark pistol.
Go to rim fire matches, you will not see ANYONE, I mean ANYONE using a P22.

The fact that you said Mark pistols are "Not real pistols", "Nothing good about them" is really good reason to negate anything you say.

You say this because you are biast toward a certain pistol. I own both and the better pistol by far is a Mark series pistol, by about 10 times.

Thanks.

Well it is simple. I haven't seen any serious BE shooter to use Rugers, they are simply not good enough for target shooting. They really are only good for acquiring very rudimental pistol shooting skills.

What is left is any chance to use it for practicing any kind of drills or possible (theoretical) self defence scenario. And Rugers do not fill that role either being

a) too bulky
b) controls located god only knows where
c) grip is nothing more that broomhandle
d) target sights on a lousy target pistol make no sence
e) there is no slide

So when someone jumps in and start BS about Walther and pushing those POS Rugers forward I am getting a real kick.

Now about Walther P22. It never pretended being target pistol. Everything on P22 is as it is on P99, except for some silly reason frame is only 75% of P99's size. Omitting size issue P22 is an excellent shooter, very accurate, has conventional controls. I admit 22 conversions are far better training platforms but Walther is good too.

Look at the picture below, shot from 20 yards bullseye style. Its always about targets.

Ive personally seen two P22 pistols with frames cracked and blown up... I will never own one and I encourage anyone who wants to buy one to really look into reviews of the gun. I wish I had pictures, both pretty much split at the same point, near the chamber down along the frame and into the trigger guard, almost blowing the gun in two pieces....

The Rugers on the other hand are built like tanks and will out live you... Not the best looking guns, but very very durable...

I personally shot a S&W 22A because it fit my hands properly and was weighted nicely....

I also have to vote against it. I had one & even from NEW it was very picky about what ammo it would eat. Mag jams, stovepipe, feed problems, you name it. Cleanliness was not an issue with this one- it was always cleaned. I even took the guy I got it from (dealer friend of mine) out & he couldn't beleive it was happening. After much heartache Darcy decided that I shouldn't be stuck with it and took it back.
