Really don't care whether you believe it or not, you can call me a liar if you want because I know its fact....I showed the chronograph print-out to a co-worker at Hub Sports when I worked there and it was good enough for him.
Several times when we were at Ridgedale or Mission with the rifle and that particular load other people were witness.
As for your rifle, I can't help what it does or doesn't do, we went up to 98.5 gr RL22, but accuracy went out the window.
Regarding the 378 Weatherby load you posted, I think my Brother's 378 is pushing the same bullet somewhat faster with a safe handload.
 
In my old 375 Ackley I used to shoot 270s at 3075 fps. Primers stayed tight. I also fired 300s slightly over 2900 but that was too hot. In my 378s, 300s went 3050 with no signs of pressure. I'd say 3200 should be no problem with 260s. Currently shooting a 22" 375 H&H. It shoots the 260s at 2790 fps.
 
Not saying anyone is lying saying that the case capacity is to small to be able to produce those velocities especially with only 95grs RL22 ... ;)

ChuckHawks put up a decent table to use as a guideline.
You can see what your plethora of different magnum rifles produce and then decide if you can hang on to one of the .375's...... ;)
 
I think the best 375 is the first one that comes along in excellent shape at the right price:) For me it was a Ruger, cause it was a smokin' deal AND it was left hand. If it had have been a CT or an H&H or virtually any other variant the outcome would have been the same.

The Ruger isn't the fastest, but it is the best. It truly is The New King :evil:
 
Gatehouse mentioned that the 375 Ruger is what the H&H would look like if it was designed today. In reality, the 375 Ruger is what it might have looked like if it was designed in 1915. Since the Ruger is not much more than the 35 Newton necked up, one could almost say it was! Regards, Bill

Yup....Probably a chronograph error.

I've spent quite a bit of time with the 375wby (same thing as the Ackley) and there is no way it can safely attain those speeds with any sort of reasonable pressure. No offense to anyone.
I do remember working up a load with RL-22 and it not showing any pressure signs in the 375 Wby...So be careful!

If he really is going that fast the rifle is experiencing hand grenade pressure levels......There is no way around this.
 
just my 2 cents -- my Sako AV with standard bbl in 375 AI got a little over 2900 ft/s with a 300 gr Sierra I believe -- no pressure signs at all and very very accurate

Many did not believe until they saw it with their own eyes. David Henry did the fantastic re-chamber job and as he says: it shoots like it shoots - dont worry about it.

I backed it off a bit, in case it went overseas with me, to shoot around 2850 ft/s. Shot a 2 1/2 yr old moose at 100 yds from stern to bow and never found the bullet as it passed through the chest and kept on going,

Very nice round in my opinion -- absolutely nothing wrong with any of the others tho - whatever you like. I have to agree that for the price and being able to get a left handed version, the Rugers are quite good

Based on that info ...... The 375 CT would be the most modern of the bunch.

Short enough for a regular 30/06 length action and sporting one of those new fangled belts that the Ruger lacks. It IS the original 375 Short Mag! ;)

No - the first was the .375 Durham!!! Fits the 30/06 length action and sports one of those belts that are so important to keep the brass together at high pressure!

I agree. The rifle I wanted, also a LH Ruger, just happened to be chambered for the Ruger round.

They'll all get the job done.....






BUT......... there can only be one 'King of the 375s'!!:)

Yes I made it up so I can be an internet hero with a gun I sold :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Its been witnessed many times, and anyone who shot it put 3 rounds under and inch at 100 yds :D
