Just wondering what the CORE course is like. Haven't really been to anything scolastic since I took my firearms course about 10 years ago. Is there practical & written tests? How in depth are they?

practical and written are part of the exam. practical is same as the PAL exam for the most part.

go buy the core book, or borrow a copy from the library and do the practice quizzes at the end of each chapter. the exam is pretty straight forward. Most people fail the duck identification or the muzzle loader stuff.

Thats interesting, you're the second person i've talked to thats mentioned the birds........ Maybe read up a bit more on that section (just to look good on the test)

Drop by your local Ducks Unlimited office and grab one of their posters that has pictures of the hen and drake of all the common ducks in Canada. It is an easy way to learn the birds.

The poster is called "know your ducks". the art is done by Angus Shortt. It is a nice wall ornament for the man room as well ;)
