Russian SKS45 long thread.

Got an email from Cabella's about my outstanding order. I had asked what number I was on the list and if I might get a rifle.

"We did receive a shipment of 200 only, the 1945 Russian SKS it has true tula arsenal markings, is in very good condition, comes with bayonet, sling and cleaning kit in stock, the wood is also in very good condition. These SKS come in at $239.99 but we are offering a $40.00 discount and sell at $199.99. You have ordered 2 Sks 's and are 201st on our list, however there was an order cancelled and I have commited 1 to your order, if there is another cancellation I will commit that 1 to your order as well. Please advise if you would like to substitute this SKS for the other."

This implies that the rifles they got are somehow different than the ones I ordered. What is the difference, other than these costing $30 more?

difference is that when you placed your order, it was for a chinese sks, they ended up getting russians in though.

Please check the first page of this thread - 29 Feb 08.

A Chinese model was never part of the excitement (type 56 was mentioned but this is probably an error by using a previous catalogue description of a Chinese model).

As far as the price being up by $30 - not really surprised with the difficulties in obtain them (close to a year late - originally expected March 08)). Still the best price around and a price you will never beat - my prediction

Cheers,

when i spoke to them they said the difference are in the supplier , whether the product is different that remains to be seen .

according to the very first post they always been russian

some of the people who got the call for the 200 are actually been waiting longer than 1 year , those people ordered it as norinco SKS type 56 , the part number you see on the first page is actually for a norinco.

when SIR felt they werent gonna get any norinco for awhile, they decided to offer the new russian SKS to those people who have been waiting for up to a year and a half prior to the intro of the russian SKS at the same of $166 first so they would get them first , about 125 took up that offer and switched.

those 125 plus the early birds who actually ordered the russian in feb/mar 08 were again offered to to make the switch to $200 bcos they werent able to get any from the first supplier.

this is a weebit of history of how Russian SKS45 came to canada. i think #1bc is writting a sticky about it .;)

I would imagine so . It's in route . Doesn't bother me one bit . I have a mint Frontier one already .I'll be shooting both , And after everyone polishes all the paint off there bolt carriers Mine will still be black & a collectors item , LOL

I phoned them today just to clarify, and talked to a firearms guy who said they are all the same quality, and none have the black paint on the bolt carriers. This is while I was looking at pictures of blackened refurbs guys have already posted here.

I had to explain to him what refurbishment entailed, but he insisted the bolt carriers were in the white.

I guess I won't know until mine arrives and I can open up the box.

I got one of those e-mails too and checked my tracking number with Canada Post, which gave me this.

Product Type: Expedited Parcels
Service Standard Delivery Date: 2009/03/13
Reference Number 1: ######
Reference Number 2: xx
Date of Event Time of Event Location Description Retail Location Signatory Name
2009/03/10 17:19 WINNIPEG, MB Item processed at postal facility
2009/03/10 16:30 WINNIPEG, MB Item processed at postal facility
2009/03/10 16:29 WINNIPEG, MB Item transferred for processing
2009/03/10 15:40 WINNIPEG, MB An order has been electronically submitted

According to it, I should receive the package Friday, but they told me today none had shipped yet as they were in limbo awaiting registration.

I don't know what to believe right now. When the girl talked to me on the phone last week, she said it could be up to 3 1/2 weeks before I received my order.

Friday would be nice though!

You can start smiling - yours is with Canada Post as mentioned above - no ifs or buts. It is in the Canada Post system and tracked by their tracking system.

As far as delivery date - this is a Canada Post estimate and usually, if no problems are encountered, it should arrived as quoted.

Sweet! I'll be happy if I get it next week, but Friday is nicer!:D

IF you haven't already, take your tracking number and punch it into the Canada Post website for your info.

I suspect you'll be getting yours about the same time mine will arrive.

Funny how we went from 0 to 60 in no time at all.

isn't ONLY the black painted bolt from bell?

no, IZH also has black carrier now ... so now the only way we can tell them apart (black carriers) is to look at the mag block . thin rod welded to follower arm is IZH and a cylinder welded to the bottom is bell .
