Wild Pigs in Saskatchewan

I hunted them with bigredd and daryldb, using bows.

If I was going to use a .223, I'd want to use a TSX bullet. I sure wouldn't be using some varmit bullet....

Those Russian boars are very stout animals, and I'd prefer something bigger, actually.:)

If you go on a wild boar hunt you might want a pair of Kevlar chainsaw pants for protection...and carry a machete as back-up.

Spot 'em in the evening or morning (they are nocturnal) or at night with night vision gear and then go get 'em with a shotgun or large hand gun in the day light! Rifles are too noisy and you want a short barrel so you can swing it faster LOL. You almost have to step on 'em before they will come out of their beds!

O.K.....I will try this....LOL!

Now lads why did we all know this would go off the rails?

We all KNOW that we are not allowed to hunt with a handgun in Canada...........just move along folks, nothing to see here..................

Doug

yeah right, your ATT permits you to carry your restricted firearm at night and loaded to shoot at a non-range, at live animals. Sure thing. Have your lawyer's name and number in your possession when you go out.......

A friend of mine said he saw one a bridge crossing the South Sask river near Diefenbaker Landing.

I am not sure where Diefenbaker Landing is? I would like to know.

I thought this was about hunting feral pigs is Sask!

I don't want to see this turn into a gong show because no laws apply.

Lets set a good example of how we can manage ourselves.

The landing is strait north of Swift Current . It is actually called Sask landing and is where the pigs we hunt started out from as far as we know. There was a farmer at Stewart Valley that had his fence broken and lost his herd . We hunt them in the river breaks around there . Heard rumors that there were a bunch shot at Kyle this year but haven't looked into it yet too close. Gonna try our local herd tomorrow and hope things go well if they do i will try and post some pics.

But it is not hunting Doug, it is "pest control" and you can use just about anything on private land, even a canon LOL.

At first I thought you were joking...? Your are aware that is illegal??

Doug is right....

Use a handgun and get caught and you will lose every gun you own and spend the next 2-3 years in court trying desperately to stay out of jail.

Now if your a gang-banger young offender in MORONTO or HONGCOUVER you will get 1 slap on the wrist and sent home with your mommy...:D

Crap, I grew up in Rosetown back 60s & & 70s. Guess I left too soon. I'd like a crack at them though. Anybody know how they taste? Was back a couple years ago for Mom & Dads 50th and this is the first I've ever heard about these wild hogs. (display envy icon here)
