USP owner?

I was thinking of buying a USP tactical in 45. But I am worried the grip will be overly large as I have fairly small hands. Big palm short fingers. I don't have any problem with beretta or glocks for grips. Any ideas?
If you're okay with Beretta 92 and full-size Glock grips, you won't have any trouble with USP45.

I'm also cursed with small hands. I shot that damned USP .45 like a champ from the get-go. It doesn't feel like it's "too much" for my hands.

And unlike many other handguns, I shot to point of aim with it. Other than the awefully stiff and gritty DA (even with a coil or two cut from the firing pin spring),and creep-ridden SA action, I shoot very well with this gun.

do you get to try it with a match trigger,...the hammer spring was softer. Made for a better trigger press

no. if you can use your trigger finger to press the mag release,..you can also use it to press the decocker down.

I really would not want to operate the the safety/decocker with my trigger finger. doesn't that feel wrong? I am still surprised most people seems not to "ride" the safety...

as for the size of the 45 I cannot help much as I held the 45CT only. But I do not have big hands yet they both feel perfect to me. USP are blocky thats all, you know thats not a banana when you hold one... I don't see anything wrong with that.

There is no need for a safety Lever if you use it DA first shot. I would put a variant 9 detent plate in it and use it in standard division SA first shot. (shooting minor for 9mm though)

THe new HK p30L got rid of the safety/decocker for a reason,..that is why they put the decocker at the rear of the slide,...out of the way. BUT<.....if you like it,..than that is good. I would say just get used to it and have fun.

Ix,

Great shooting, and excellent choice of gun. ;) Those USP's almost shoot themselves...they are so comfortable.

I am looking to get one in 9mm too.

Do you have instructions on how to proceed? I have a feeling this will require removing practically everything... :(

.

You should check out HKPRO forums,..it has detailed instructions.
You need the lever for the right side of the gun,.....that is it.
Have you taken it apart before?

I found it via google;BUT,.you do not have to take the firing pin out for the trigger mechanism, or the trigger spring....just take out the parts you need to,...READ everything first.

Had to do it once when I dropped the empty USP in sand... :p

Wasn't the most pleasant experience, so I'm not eager to repeat it.

Fired a USP Tactical .45 at my range today. I must admit, I did not like it. I regularly shoot a .45 and the USP isn't at all what I thought it would be. Frankly, I'd recommend to anyone a M&P 45 or a Glock 21SF in this caliber over a USP any day of the week. Just my opinion.
