I have a .45 ACP Para with a 5 inch barrel(14-45). I am now thinking of buying another .45 with a shorter, "non 12-6" length barrel.

Because I can not have a 12-6 firearm, I am looking to get one that is as close to 105 mm as possible, while getting the best firearm available.

I would appreciate anyones opinion about different firearms, especially first hand experience.

Thank you

Norinco Commander, very reliable and inexpensive, too.

Take Care

Bob

+1 if you want to go "econo".

My Norc commander eats up Fiocchi 230 gr JHP's like there's not tomorrow. Very happy with it.

NAA, how did you do the finish on those norcs? mine came parked green and it looks pretty ####ty. I tried to shine it up with some steel whool and it helped but it still looks shotty.

Any advice?

STI Ranger II is an awesome gun at a fair price. The recoil master 2 piece, full length, non-captive guide rod is solid and heavy and is the absolute best type of guide rod for any pistol out there. Matched with the heavy, bushingless bull barrel, makes it a hefty little gun with very soft recoil. The trigger pull is also perfect.

Norinco Commanders work and are cheap. I cant say a bad word about them. I put thousands and thousands of rounds through mine and truely enjoyed the many customizations I experimented with on it.

Nighthawk Customs have to be about the most badass commanders out there, but YOUCH! High prices!

Dan Wesson's C-Bobs are at least as good of a gun, and a helluva lot cheaper. But they only come in stainless.

I wanted a black CBOB, so I bought the Ranger and made use of the services of a gunsmith to perform the bobtail conversion.

(I am still waiting to get it back so I am sorry that I can not post pics for you)

This is a dream gun for me.

The two Norcs in the pics are factory stock blue finish. But both are latest series Norcs and they seem to be putting a nicer finish on the newest versions.

I shoot a Norc Compact, the recoil is a little sharper than with a 5 inch gun, but easily adjusted to. If I was looking to spend some money on another 45 I'd be looking at Dan Wesson. The CBOB is as close as you can get to an Ed Brown gun, for about a third of the cost.

A Norinco 1911A1-C is cheap. An STI Ranger II is good value for the money.

Only you can know which of these two that you really want.

I think STI's are the best bang for the buck. But if you're on a tight budget, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a Norinco.

Thank you one and all, for your ideas. I will start to look around at the ones suggested.
I was told to look at S&W M and P's. I know they are DAO, but was told they were a good choice.
