How can I identify my latest firearm purchase?

I have recently purchased a rifle from a family member who claims it is a 303 British I can't find a way to correctly identify it or find out it's history. I can read the serial # followed by mk 1 the rest is stamped in what looks like Asian writing? It also doesn't look like any of the pics that I have seen that look like a mk 1 It kinda looks like a 303 Lee Enfield mk 3. The Photo's that I see that look really close to it just refer to it as 303 British or 303 Lee Enfield. Any Ideas?

posting a pic would help.
There was a few different rifles that where chambered
in .303 british.
You may have to get it verified at a local gun shop before
you do the transfer.
Manufactures numbers can and are mistaken for serial numbers.
The FRT will tell you where to look for serial numbers
on a particular gun.
My NO 1 MKIII is on the reciever over chamber.
numbers on rear stock band are generally manufactures numbers.

If I had to guess from your description, I would say Siamese contract No.1MkIII*, but without pics, it's only an educated guess.

Did the rifle come with any ammo? Some loaded ammo and empty cases that were fired in it would be a big hint at the caliber.
