TT-33 experience?

Good afternoon everyone,

I was at my gun club yesterday, and was admiring a TT-33 in 7.62x25, and the nice gentleman saw me, and let me shoot a magazine off! I loved the feel and handeling of the pistol, and my question is basically what do you guys think? What are your experiences with this pistol? how available is the ammo?

The reason im asking is I am really thinking of picking one up, I just dont want to have a pistol with ammo that is hard to find. Anyone have any comments on reliability or ammo or anything about the pistol at all?

I have one and I really enjoy it. I also have the $99 special. The TT33 is readily available from several retailers (see above) and surplus ammo is also readily available, for now. Most of it is ex-submachinegun ammo so some will say it's too hot, but that's another argument:) Parts are cheap, extra mags are cheap, it's reliable, and like most things Russian - strong like ox, smart like tractor. It's pretty idiot proof for cleaning and dis-assembly.
 
I bought a TT33 from Frontier a few months ago. Took it to the range last week and shot off a few boxes of surplus. I must say it was very impressive! I let a couple guys shoot off a clip. Be warned - this gun will draw attention at the range - very loud!

Where can I get my hands on a case of 7.62x25 surplus now?
 
a real TT-33 is definitely more interesting but these days it seams to be hard to get surplus ammo
so i baught an M213 because of the availibility of 9mm

I have the Norinco copy and I LOVE it!! Got a full case of ammo and its fun and reliable. Everyone I let shoot it always asks where can they get one. I got my ammo from marstar a ways back, I think they are out now.
 
Real TT-33, mardig88? You mean the Kalashnikovs made under license by other Eastern Bloc nations are not real? I have a WWII Soviet and three Norinco TT-33's (all in 7.62x25mm) and I assure you all four are equally real and equally excellent.

Whatever you say cowboy, it's just that he asked if it's worth buying a TT-33: and the answer is YES buy a TT-33, and not: buy a M213 chinese knockoff...

Yes I realized that after he explained it. Bunched Panties thing was a joke. Are the Chinese copies really knock-offs though? I don't think so. China was a client state and as such was given help tooling up for various small arms and other weapons. So calling the Norinco a knock-off is historically and technically inaccurate. I am not upset about this but am just trying to be helpful. I like the TT-33 and like all the pistols manufactured in the various allied nations. Now if only I had the cash to purchase a TT-33 made in every country!

Actually it doesn't say TT-33 on the Russian pistols at all. Blueprints are identical for all the Comm Bloc nations.
Are our C7A2's M-16's? Are they knock-offs? Same applies to the Soviet TT-33 and Chinese, Hungarian, Polish, Rumanian, Yugoslavian etc. You argue for nought Barracuda.40.
 
Itis the same thing as with the AK-47. Almost every Com-Bloc nation made them, and they were all AK-47's. It doesn't matter if they were made in China, Russia or Romania.
 
YOU are not getting my point. I am talking about the M213! ITS NOT EVEN IN 7,62x25 so to me, it's not a Russian TT-33. The guy who started this thread ask if the Russian TT-33 was a good buy. People should answer YES or NO, and why, INSTEAD OF saying, buy the M213.... That is my point...no arguing.
