Does anyone know someone in the GTA who does parkerizing? I need a receiver done after marring it in a stupid attempt at a barrel removal without the right tools.

Thanks in advance

don't want to hi-jack, but don't want to waste this question on an entire new thread. where can i find park solution if i want to do a park job myself?

Search Parkerizing on this forum. There was a long thread about parkerizing about 2 weeks ago. Phosphoric acid can be bought at any hydroponics supply and manganese can be bought at pottery supply stores. Google pottery supply house. They're cheap and do mail order. I will be parkerizing my 870 on Thursday. It's not too difficult, although results can be sporadic till you get the hang of it. Some of my stuff looks like it came from the factory and some goes back to the sandblaster.

Dogzilla has the right attitude here guys. Many books make this out to be a major undertaking, but with some common sense & trial & error it can be done in the garage. Be carefull of some of the chemicals, but enjoy the learning process, dont get put off by taking pieces back to the sandblaster. You can use suitably prepared pieces of scrap steel to give you an idea of the process.
remember preperation time is the biggest effort.

Did my 870 yesterday and it came out looking perfect. I put on my new Dlask 12.5 barrel and you couldn't tell the differance. I noticed though that When I did another part right after it the juice seemed to be less energetic and the part came out slightly lighter. If I'm going to do major parts like a reciever I will use fresh juice every time. It's cheap to make (I figure less than $5 per gallon including propane for the stove). All told it took about 2 hours including prep time.

I just did another 870 today and a friends stevens last week, both came out Primo. The Phosphoric acid was $10 and the Manganese was $16. That did 4 shotguns, some extra barrels and a bunch of small parts, and I still have enough Manganese to do probably 3-4 more shotguns.
