I was at the HACS show in Chilliwack last Saturday and wa trying to find a good deal on a descent scope for my new .223 Bushmaster rifle. I have a Bushnell Elite 6500t on my Remmy 308 so was thinkin about the 3200 or 4200.
There were a few there and the usual Leupold very pricey scopes but nothing I really liked or great deals. Then my buddy came up to me and said ya gotta check out the scopes at that table, so over I went.
I picked up a 3-12 variable mildot mounted on a fo-stock and thaght this seems ok only to realize it had an illuminated reticle. Wow this works well. The sgirl there said her husband has one on his 300 win mag and has never had a problem with it (sales pitch I was thinkin). It looked good (so did she) and the scope had all the features I was thinkin about like a nice bright 50mm objective lens and sunshade. When I saw the show price of $140 I thaught what the heck it looks ok how bad can it be.
I went home and mounted it on by unfired Bushy and at the range the next day got a reasonable result first shot at 50m. Very little clicking later was shooting 4" groups at 100m with US surplus 55g ball ammo. The rifle was by far exceeding my expectations and so was the scope. Tried some 55g Amax home loads and was consistantly hitting clay pigeons at 300m using the mildots. (2.5 dots high)
Any one else have such posative results with one of these scopes?
