Shooting friend brought this gun to range today to show me. This is the nicest milsurp conditioned firearm I have ever seen. Wood is 99.9% Bluing is just a pleasure to see 100% there is one mark on gun 1/32" by 1/4" on wood near bayonet.
Its a Model Mauser 98 1935 7x57cal.made Mauser-Werke A.G. Oberndort
Gun was in grease never fired, round count as today 9
All parts are have serial number including bayonet no number on sheath for bayonet.
Whats it worth ???

not saying this to be a prick but a lot less than if it were unfired.mausers in that condition if its not a yugo or check rifle around 800i would guess without bayo. cleaning kit or rod come with it?
 
I ain't a Mauser guy, but is that one of those Peruvian ones that came in about 15 years ago? There were quite a few of them with matching number bayonets and cleaning kit. They were absolutely new and fairly reasonable price.

worth $ 1000.00-1200.00 and worth every penny of it...
This guns shoot as nice as they look, so don't regret shooting it...
 
Very, very nice!!! I have one sans bayonnet. There are very few around. I bet you could get much more for it!

Here's mine:
Lever Arms brought in a bunch of these in the mid-to-late seventies. The price was one-sixty each, dealer's price one-twenty. If you bought a case of twenty-four the price was one-fifteen each.
I bought a case of them. The fellow for whom I was working, put up the money and I sold them. We each kept two. There was one consecutive numbered pair. The case hadn't been opened since it left the Mauser factory in 1937.
Each rifle came with a numbered bayonet, sling, muzzle cap and the actual test target dated and signed by the factory tester. Since I didn't really like the 7 x 57, I sold one rifle and cleaned up the other which I gave to my dad.
The original grease is still in the bore. I had the target plaque mounted since the edges were crumbling. The bayonets were so snugly fitted to their respective rifles, that it was difficult to put a non-matching bayonet onto a rifle.
He willed it to Number 1 son who will get it. Number 2 son wasn't on the way at that time, but he'll end up with lots of nice guns down the road.

I remember when SIR was selling them mail order for a couple hundred.
 
Those nine rounds down the bore won't detract from the value at all. Those rifles were test fired after all and if anyone here can tell the difference between 3 rounds and twelve rounds They have incredible eyes. Many of those rifles were fired more than 3 times for test purposes. The targets they were issued with were the end result to prove they were within spec.

I wouldn't take less than $1200 for it. They are hard come by and many were made into beautiful sporters, makeing prostine examples even rarer. It's older cousin, the 1908 is more plentiful.

That would be the Ludwig Lowe family I believe that gained control of Mauser for awhile. Eventually the Mauser Oberndorf name re-appeared.
These 1935 Oberndorf Brazilian contract Mauser are lovely. I own an example that is complete with bayonet, sling,muzzle-cover and target dated 1937. I bought it from a local shop last year for $650+tax. Yes a steal I know, but I sleep just fine. It replaced one I had that had no accessories and had been oil-finished which I sold to a buddy for $500.
There were two complete examples at Chilliwack last weekend for around $1,000 each. They were there last year also. Realistic price?...$750+. U.S. internet prices are completely goofy for these.

Kinda looks like the minty straight bolt M1908 DWM-Berlin 7x57mm I picked up last year at the local shop. Sling, brass muzzle cover & matching # bayo. Think I nearly stole it for $400 + tax..... :eek:

Nice rifle!

Too bad my Dad isn't into guns, and picked up a case of those and other such treasures back in the heyday, for his only Son.:D
