Has anyone had any experience with this Surplus ammo at all?.

It's a 147gr, I think it was a bit of a lighter bullet than what was recommended in the stickies (still pouring over them right now) I recall reading that the M14s usually are meant to eat a steady diet of factory loads.

Any concerns shooting this ammo in the Norc?.

It's perfectly fine for your Norinco. That's the standard NATO load that the N14 is chambered for.

The only concerns are how much do you have and how much did you pay for it.

thats the surplus ammo we get here in NZ , i forget whether it was 147gr or 154gr .. it was something that seemed a random figure to me anyways..

but...

it was all good.. out of a stock norc, mystery wood stock, no modifications, using open sights - i pulled off around about 2-2.5moa groups

could have improved that with optics and a better stock and bags .. i was shooting off the handlebars of an ATV

Heh, nice, thanks guys for the responses. I did some searches and the bullet weight came up 147gr. So I wasn't sure.

I have some AE 150gr's I picked up from P&D for a decent price but someone came in the other day and snapped up all of them! (200 count for $179)

Now I am on the hunt for case lots of ammo :)

I find in my 700P it groups at around 2.5 + - @ 100 meters, not a M305 as per your request but the stuff has gone bang everytime...If you want nice surp try ang get your cabbage pickers on some portugese 762-51;)

With the same SA surplus ammo, I'm getting the same groups at 100 yards with my Tikka T3 Tactical and my AIA M10-B3.

My M305's don't have any glass yet, so I can't comment on how well the SA stuff shoots at 100yards out of my M14's. But, with peep sites at 50yards, I was getting around 4MOA out of my untuned M14's(prior to visiting 45ACPKING's clinic).

Heh, I've read Port is the best providing you can find it... :)

I got some a while back from districorp. Has gone bang every time I've wanted it to thus far. Paid about $0.6 per round.

I bought battlepacks for $70 last summer...and I took all of it. I bought it after I got my Norc M14...I'm not a marksman with a rifle so I get under 2" groups at 50 meters. I've only put about 100 rounds through my M14 and it was my first larger calibre rifle...I'm still improving (I hope).

Speaking of SA 7.62 x 51 surplus, what would a sealed 140-round battlepack of this stuff be fetching for $$$'s these day's?

Since there is none left for sale - those who bought some and havent shot it can sell it for whatever price they can find a sucker for -
You are better off buying Remington UMC - its more accurate anyway ---
The PMC sux -I cant even get precision bolt guns to shoot it as well as UMC.

I believe I bought a 140 rnd battle pack of SA last year for about $90. I ran it through my M-70 and got about 1.5" groups at 100 yards, which is a little worse than I get from federal or reloads.
