So I acquire an old box of .264 125 grain Nosler Partitions.
Bullets have the machined groove cut on them. I believe these are from the 1960's ???
Open the box to find a pamphlet advertising the Partition.

Here's the Partition

Check out the prices.
I'm sure shooters complained about the high price back in the day.:D

I still have a few of these in 6mm, 257, 6.5mm and 7mm. They worked well, but were not as accurate as the current crop of Partitions in my experience. I shot my largest mule deer with a 165 Partition of that early design. Regards, Eagleye.

I got a full box of 140gr 6.5's at a garage sale a couple years back.Apparently made on the the old screw type machinery.......................Harold

yellow boxes

I picked up a bunch of bullets a while back and there were 2 of those yellow boxes and a neat old 224 Herters bullet box. FS

Box appears to be identical except for being faded.
There's a lot # on the bottom of 125925

I was given some of those a few years back, for ####s and giggles I loaded some up in my Gaillard barrel 260, they did shoot well, 3/4" groups.

Cool. reminds me of digging around in my dad's ammo closet. Old Weatherby boxes with Tigers and such on them and all manner of old bullet boxes.

It's always cool to watch gunshows for old boxes of bullets that have never even been opened. Usually can be had quite reasonably, too.

NAA.

I'd like to find some of the old Savage ammo boxes from the 50's for my collection but them U.S. guys go alot higher than what I think they're worth. I don't mind sniping them on old gun sights and such but for chunks of cardboard they can have em.

You mean these kinds of old bullets?
The Herters in the middle is unopened, .277. I think some of the CILs are full, also.

I have a couple of boxes of 308 diameter CIL plastic tipped bullets. Do people collect this sort of thing? If so what would they be worth? The boxes on the outside look just like H4831's above.

Hey! Have you been digging in my bullet supply???:D

That's the kind of stuff I'm always looking at as well, and trying to decide what to do with it. I preferred those 'old' Noslers to the new ones, frankly - I liked that relief groove on the partition wall, and always used it for a crimping groove. I also thought the original machined ones shot better than the new shiny ones. Damn! I used to buy .308 180 gr. Partitions for $15.00 a box, and grumbled about the price...:(

No one has made mention of the Herters bullets. I wonder how many on here even knew of Herters?
Obviously, all the older shooters will, but I will bet there are writers on here who have never heard of the outfit that made "the best in the world," and sold it for a third less than any other make.

An old friend long deceased who taught me all about handloading back in 1962 & 63 must've had nearly every different bullet sold by Herters.
Before his passing he gave me a few boxes of 338 - 210 gr old style Nosler Partitions....still use them very sparingly !
Among other things I've also got about 700 CIL 270 Kling-Kore bullets hoarded away...they'll get used someday... ;)
