Is there a need for more Cdn made AR parts?

FYI I highly recommend NOT doing a piston upper in a standard AR configuration upper.

You do want a Steel bolt rail to guide the bolt carrier...

Anti tilt bolt carriers (a la Hk416) work to a point - but the bolt material is uber expensive so it can counteract the forces of carrier tilt (which will still exist even with the 'anti-tilt' carrier.

Don't make me talk to Rick and bump you to the back of the line. Or get you a custom serial number... ATRS-FTBSTRD

You've got the technology for that, don't you Rick?

Thanks ATR,

When you say tube type of FF fore-end, would it require removal of FSB and nut? Or will it be more along the DD Omega rail style drop-in, free-float?

I guess patience for a Cdn rifle will have to last into the summer =)

For a true freefloat rail assembly, yes the Delta ring and barrel nut would be replaced and the forward ring removed entirely, the sight block would depend on how long a fore end you wanted, many require the low pro gas block others do not.

At the moment we are working just to get the lowers done and shipped, we have a ton of things we want to get into the works along with another ton of designs both borrowed and our own that we will be working to get into production. Until after we get the shop moved though we have enough jusy keeping up with brakes, barrels and lowers, soon there will be bottom metal and stocks, then more varied quad rails and so much more. Time and not enough machines is what is the biggest problem, but that will be partially solved in the near future.

To ATR: don't build a .223 AR! They are everywhere. Build a .308. You'd be the only Canadian vendor building a .308. Now that's a market niche you'll own here.

I haven't been following this closely enough lately. Are all of these spoken for, or can I still get one.
This is a very long thread...........I can't read every post right now.

Very niche, as in a very small market. Not many people will expense for .308 when all you can do is shoot at a range. :(

That and being as we all like to gak up our kit, what better way then to put out a nice new lower. If everyone has a .223 ar, better market. I would also buy a 308, but like sigger said, not many people will dump extra money on more range only guns.

I would buy one, but only if he was going to build complete rifles and give a decent accuracy guarentee like his long arms..... frankly the price point would probably be $4k or more (plus optics), so very limited market I think.

Lets just say the thought is being passed around the shop here, as well as trying to figure out if it is feasable to make something s/a 308 that is blackish but non restricted.
Please do not start emailing me with orders or questions, this is a project that is a LOOOOOOOG way down the list of things to do.

It has become a very long thread, far longer than I ever dreamed it may be.
We will be running another batch of lowers once this batch has ben shipped out. If you want 1 send me an email and I will let you know when we get into the next production run. There may still be 1 or 2 left from this batch but until we have all the preordered 1s finished and taken care of, but I want to leave some in case of an unexpected fubar:eek:

I understand, thanks for replying.
Check this machinists little AR-10 project if you get a chance.

Really? Then why is everything sold out? Orders for AR-10 kit come in and get sold out in days. Also seems like LE is buying alot of AR-10 goodies too.
Whats good for the goose................

I don't think Rick needs to be shown how to make a lower... LOL
