I just pulled my Ross M10 out of the closet as its been a good two years. man these rifles seem very very tough. I am thinking of refinishing the stock and doing some blueing touchups and possibly lob off the barrel making it more compact for a bush shooter. The bore is dime bright and is in awesome shape for such an old rifle. I may have to take this sucker out for a testfire.:)

Hope its not a full wood military M10, if so sell or trade it to someone for a bubba.I've had a 1905 sorter that I took a moose with but now I have a M10, sporterized and chambered in 303 Epps Improved. Love the rifle and history, you have one of the strongest bolt actions ever built

Win94 how about some photo's of your sporter

Hey Mark.
I've never had a chance to but would like a Ross for sure. A couple friends have hunted with them........ how about some pics...

Jim with his brother in laws Ross. This would be in the early-mid 30's.

Another close family friend who actually helped me get started on hunting used Her Ross sporter exclusively. They had a situation on the homestead that went bad quite a few years ago. Thought it was a blackie tearing out their grainery then when a calf went missing. While looking for the calf she was charged point blank and this was the outcome!

Sporterized MkIII, not an original sporter. Lost the recoil pad by the look of it.

If the barrel is uncut it would be a big mistake to cut it.

Lots of cut ones around already.

Um, yeah i took the recoil pad off this morning as it was old and worn. Grinding one to fit as we speak. How astute of you. Fricken military collectors.:D

I don't... yet...

Have a full length ross with target stock and diopter sights. As long as I'm in open areas I may take it out for blackbear soon...

I shot my first deer in 1970 with an M10 ex-military cut down rifle (otherwise known as a Bubba) and numerous others too.

I hunt with one - a sported Mk III... 21 in barrel, c/w red-dot. Great bush gun for dogging in Ontario. They can really spit lead. Only drawbacks are the weight, and the fixed magazine.
