Stock Barrel Band for a 10/22 ?

Hey there guys... A couple of days ago I was fitting a new stock onto the 10/22 and I accidentally stripped the threading on my barrel band (these aluminum stainless look-alike ones really suck, let me tell you... the SOB got all messed up with only a slight tension on the screwdriver, now the bolt pops out of it every time!)

Anywho, I was looking around to buy a spare, but no one seems to be carrying it... besides Midway USA, who doesn't happen to ship to Liberal Land unless you're a dealer and ordering more than 500$. Do you know of any company that carries these? I would go for a regular steel band this time around, no more aluminum BS. Thanks!

P.S. I'd also be interested in a used one... or maybe even a couple of them to keep as spares. You can PM if you happen to have one lying around.

i had the same thing happen years ago- used a longer screw and put a nut on the other end- a square nut- tucks right in- right on top of the hole- as far as finding a steel one, you have to go back a ways or after market- mine,s an 89 issue and it's got a alum band

I said steel because the Midway USA one (pictured) is said to be made out of steel and sells for $7.95 USD... but thanks for the info, it's much appreciated!

Yeah.. I was thinking that too... but I honestly thought that the black ones were steel (and therefore tougher). Besides, black would look better on my new folding stock.

A lot of people don't use them and claim that they get better accuracy, mine was the opposite, it got worse when I took it off.

midway won't sell to canada-, and i did the re-thread thing, and found when you got a certain tension on the band, it would strip again- as in SPROING- that's why i backed it up with a nut- with the nut in there, it's not going to expand down the shaft-
