Anybody actually use this one? We had a few Remingtons come in the other day and there was a Model 7 SS on the order. We didn't expect it and got it fixed with the distributor but we are left with this rifle. Its a sweet little rifle and I'm thinking of using it myself. Is it no beeter or worrse than the 7mm WSM?

It'll fit the Model Seven/700SA mag box better than a WSM,..probably feed better too. I've had one myself. It'll equal a 280AI for ballistics with a 140 at 3100ish....

don't let the naysayers scare you about obsolesence and the possible lack of brass in the future,..I'm sure the same things were said about the Hornet when the 222 came out...and the Swift when the 22-250 came out.....he11,...they probably even said it about the 30-06 when the 308 was introduced....fear mongers....all of 'em..:D

I'm not worried about brass, if I keep it, as I'm an avid handloader and load for some very hard to get stuff (ie, make it!) However, I haven't yet convinced myself of the need for the rifle so it may go up for sale yet. :(
Thanks for the info.

I own a 7mm WSM myself, but a friend bought a 7mm RSAUM last year and we haven't been able to tell any realistic difference between the two, except that he can fit one more in the magazine than I can. I'm also not worried about obsolescence; the 7mm is easily the least popular of the WSM series, just like the RSAUM series. So we'll all be handloading these in the future anyway.

Erik.

Got one in a Savage weather warrior. Shoots like a dream and kills anything I shoot at.
I don't see any real difference between that an a 7mm RM except a short action.

I have one on a 700 BDL SS.
Sweet rifle and very accurate.
3125 with both 140gr TSX and Baltips.
Probaly get a little more speed out of it if I wanted but both loads are under MOA so I have'nt bothered.
I heard the naysayers as well so I bought 300 brass, should last the barrels life.RB

I had a 700 SS in 7saum, one rifle I regret selling. It shot almost any load from 100 grain to 175 grain into 3/4" groups. Good ballistics in a nice package.

Thanks for the comments. I may keep this one but I've still got to convince myself I need another rifle. I could be talked out of it for $699. :) Stainless/ Syn

I really like the caliber, I had a Ti and a model 7 in it. Like others have stated people are worried about its life expectancy and there are deals to be had because of this fear. I watched a new one in Bashaw sit there for months at $579 new, finally when I decided to buy it - it was sold. Missed another one at BackCountrySports for $599..... :(

Blasphemy! Burn the witch! One rifle, give your head a shake Sean, what are you thinking? Everyone knows you need at least one rifle in every bullet diameter just to use up all those good deals on loading supplies you find at the shows every couple of months. And some of us are going for one in every caliber, just to make using up all that on sale brass easier. - dan

Sendero

A friend of mine purchased one in syn/SS Sendero package and really likes it. So far it likes 140 and 150 bullets but not so great with 160 and 175. That's fine as a well constructed 150 will be good for just about anything he wants to shoot, even Moose.

Brass is a problem to find and expensive when you do, about $40 per 50. He is currently converting some 300 SAUM brass over as he will never have both cartridges.
